Join us this Sunday to celebrate the 60th anniversary of Unitarian Universalism’s beginning, born in the merging of the American Unitarian Association and the Universalist Church of America, and to hear some of the all-too-human stories of how our faith got its start. Whether you’re a first-time visitor or a lifelong UU, Rev. Sally invites you to tune in to learn (or re-learn) a little about us, meditate on the principles we claim, and celebrate the UU tradition of continually reshaping the living, changing faith that brings us together.

New adult religious education offerings for 2021 have been announced in the Adult Religious Education Prospectus earlier this month. It promises to be a fun semester of classes, workshops, discussion and creative learning. The adult religious education committee is working on new programs to be added to this semester’s program. Keep an eye here for updates! Also, updates will be included in the eNews and on the church calendar.

Please consider donating to the Little Free Pantries run by Julie Laut and AJ Herzog, which they have kept active daily since late spring. In order to address increased and unique needs this winter, they have created an Amazon wish list. All items will be delivered to Julie's house and shared between the two pantries. Donations of all items will continue to be accepted as usual at both locations, if you want to bring them in person.

From Beth Simpson: Sorrow, that the best we could hope for “justice” after the murder of George Floyd was to convict and imprison another human being, glad that in this case the legal system and other officers finally stopped siding with police perpetrators, which happens about once in 2000 police killings, and a huge joy that local youth came together on Friday to offer each other connection and and visions of a world without police violence.

During the month of April, we will support Prairie Rivers Network through our social action offering. Prairie Rivers uses the creative power of science, law, and collective action to protect and restore our rivers, return healthy soils and diverse wildlife to our lands, and transform how we care for the earth and for each other. Prairie Rivers Network is a 501c3 non-profit organization located in Champaign, IL, and is the Illinois state affiliate organization of the National Wildlife Federation. During the month of March 2021, UC Books to Prisoners was selected to be the recipient of the shared offering. As of April 13, the UUCUC congregation contributed a total of $2,580!

All upcoming scheduled meetings and events at UUCUC listed on the calendar should be considered virtual unless noted otherwise.
