May flowers are popping up at Maywood Fine Arts! There is so much going on: live music recitals, graduations, art murals, golden tap shoe winners, and so much more! Check It Out!!!
Golden Tap-Shoe Winners!
Actually, there are Golden Tap, Jazz, and Ballet shoe winners. Every year, dance students at MFA get to compete for Gold Shoes and bragging rights. They learn the same dance from their respective discipline and level. Then they perform in front of guest judges that rate things like technique, skills execution, musicality, and performance. You will get a chance to see all of the dancers and golden shoes at the upcoming dance shows in June!
Art Mural Project Update
Students are making magnificent progress on the Art Mural at Maywood Fine Arts. Over 70 students, some as young as 6 years old, have taken part in this project. They have been making mosaic-tiled stars and painting the beautiful garden scene and MFA hands that can be seen when you pull into the parking lot.
Graduations Galore!
We are so proud of all our graduating seniors, whether high school or higher learning. It makes us happy to see you grow, achieve your goals, and succeed. Often times this marks a new chapter in life and your Maywood Fine Arts family is supporting you as you write the next page in your book. Pictured is Tanaijah who danced at Stairway since she was 3 years old. She graduated from Illinois State University!
Renteria Reality TV
Our very own Artistic Director, Heidi Renteria, alongside her husband Roberto and daughters India and Liliana, will appear on a reality tv show called Survivalists! Their episode will air this month on BYU TV. You can watch all of their shows for free at BYUTV.org
May Music Recitals
The culmination of our normal school year is upon us and it's time for the most exciting part! May Music Recitals! Music students will get to show off what they have learned in piano, percussion, voice, guitar, ukulele, and more. We are thrilled to be able to allow a limited audience to see them live. We will also be live-streaming the events! It's all happening on the 28th, 29th, and 30th of May.
NFL Greatness
We are beyond proud of Maywood Fine Arts alumnus, Greg Newsome II! Not only is he the brother of our tumbling coach Kayla but he has just been drafted into the NFL!!! The Cleveland Browns used their first-round pick and got a fantastic Cornerback. We cannot wait to see him on the big stage.
Le Tour de Shore
There are still a few spots left for Le Tour de Shore and the ride has been confirmed! We are so excited to get back on our bikes to ride 100 miles for the kids at MFA!
