Dear Church Family,
It is true that God works in mysterious ways. In the few weeks before last Sunday, Pentecost Sunday, God has been prompting several in our congregation to depend upon Him through the presence and power of the Holy Spirit. In our latest meeting of our Oswald Chambers study, My Utmost for His Highest, the theme was bringing God glory through knowing and following the Holy Spirit.
Luke 24:49 (NLT) says, “And now I will send the Holy Spirit, just as my Father promised. But stay here in the city until the Holy Spirit comes and fills you with power from heaven.”
God offers each of us His power in the Holy Spirit. This power is not like the worlds. The worlds power is all about a person, group, political party, government, the list goes on. This power is all about self and not about bringing God glory. The fact is the world’s power stands in direct opposition to God and therefore to the body of Christ, the Church.
We have all experienced people in our lives that want only what benefits them. Our position as disciples of Christ is to always act with the attitude of what will bring glory to God, what will show God’s love to another and what will bring another person or family to the saving grace of inviting Jesus to be their savior.
As many of our congregation have walked the long path to this moment in history....Our New Beginnings building coming out of the ground, let us praise and glorify God alone for His faithfulness, provision and ongoing protection.
Every step of the way building the new building has been littered with struggles and setbacks. This project very clearly has been under attack. Let us not let our guard down. Pray daily for the Holy Spirit to empower you and our congregation. Let the Holy Spirit guide our prayers for God to reveal to us how to pray as he reveals to us His will and plan.
One exciting opportunity to serve to God’s glory during the construction phase is through the Ministry of Construction. There are places for everyone to serve. As you drive by the church site you will soon see a tent that we are setting up to provide a place for the workers to sit down and relax. We are seeking servants to fill coolers with water and Gatorade on a daily basis as a part of the Ministry of Hospitality. Weekly to provide donuts in the morning and on another day lunch. In these ways, God will be honored.
Finally, on Sunday, June 6, we are returning to a normal worship service back at our pre-COVID time of 10:30 am. It will be so good to sing our praises to God. Let’s make June 6 a home coming service of thanksgiving and praise as God has been faithful to bring us through this dark time into His glorious light.
Blessings and peace be upon you,
Pastor Mike

We’re so excited, we’re going to have a baby!!
No, our names are not Abraham and Sarah, we are Paul and Cherl and the baby we will help birth is our new church. Babies take approximately 9 months, give or take a few weeks, and that’s the amount of time before we can occupy our new church building.
It takes a lot of people for the birthing of a baby, from the doctors to the nurses, insurance people, aides, housekeeping, office staff, and volunteers at the hospital. So it will take a lot of people for the birthing of our new church. Bill Ortega is the site supervisor and lots of skilled workers will be working under his guidance. David Hershey works for Weaver Construction and helps with something called “Ministry of Construction Team”. We will be heading up that team with helpers on Appreciation Team, Hospitality Team, Prayer Team, Publicity Team, and Volunteer Team.
As we prepare to ‘deliver’ the baby whose seed was planted so long ago, we look forward to working with all of you as our support team. For now, be the prayer support this project needs and you’ll be hearing from us soon for other ways to help in our New Beginnings.

Finance & Stewardship
Facts, Figures, FYI’s
Thank You: Pastor Mike and the Leadership Team would like to thank you for your generosity and willingness to share your financial resources. May God continue to bless each of you and this congregation, as we work together doing His work of sharing the good news with others.
Our General Fund giving is a little behind where it needs to be and historically our General Fund giving normally drops off during the summer months as many of us are out of town on vacations or away enjoying other summer-time activities. Unfortunately expenses continue each month regardless of the amount of income we receive, so we ask you to please consider this issue and the timeliness of your contributions.
“Loving Provider, help us to save and spend wisely so we can give generously, as You give to us each day. AMEN”
Prayer from Upper Room, January 2012
Please contact the Church Office or Tom Wiggins @ financialsec@watervilleumc.org if you have any questions about anything related to finance or stewardship.

at Zion Lutheran Church!
Waterville Community VBS is back at Zion Lutheran Church this summer. Children ages 4 - completed 4th grade are invited. Register today at https://watervillecc.org/VBS2021.
|
|
We are in need of volunteer crew leaders to help VBS be a success! This year will be separating the students into 3 main groups (PreK-K, Grades 1-2, and Grades 3-4). We need 10-12 adult volunteers to work together to help the children in these crews. You would not be responsible for the content or the activities for the evening. This will be provided by other adult VBS leaders. Your role would be to help monitor the kids and keep them engaged in the activities.
If you have any questions or you are interested in volunteering, please contact Stephanie Shelton (sshelton171@gmail.com) or Bobbie Westfall (Bobbie_Westfall@hotmail.com)

We will be having Children's Summer Sunday School this summer. The theme of the Sunday School lessons will be "Sports Club" from Trueway Kids. The goal of this program is to share the Gospel message with children and introduce them to the Christian life through a sports theme.
Children will learn that God has made them special, but that we have all fallen short of His standard. They will learn that Jesus came to be a substitute for them. Children will then be reminded of Jesus’ call to follow Him and be introduced to living a Christian life.
