El Centro de las Americas is a "Trusted Voice"
The past year has been full of change and growth for El Centro, from adding new team members to implementing new strategies in education and programming.
Innovative programs like their collaboration with HyVee and Natural Grocers helps to educate their clients about healthy foods and food budgets.
In another innovative program, their partnership with StarTran helps teach clients how to use the city buses. These and other supportive programs have helped make El Centro a trusted voice in the Latino/Hispanic community.
Learn more about their outreach programs that are helping to improve the health and wellbeing of the community they serve in their August partner highlight.

Benefits of Breastfeeding, Vaccination for Moms and Babies
The health benefits of breastfeeding for babies are numerous including a lower risk of asthma, allergies, obesity, type 1 diabetes, and SIDS. For moms, there is a lower risk of breast and ovarian cancer, type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, and post partum depression.
It's also critical for pregnant and breast- feeding moms to get vaccinated and boosted against COVID to protect themselves and their babies. Vaxxed moms share COVID protection and antibodies in their breast milk with their babies. Unvaxxed pregnant women are at higher risk for severe illness from COVID.

Partnership for a Healthy Lincoln is a non-profit organization dedicated to improving and protecting the health, wellness, and fitness of Lincoln's children, families, and seniors.
We work to improve wellness policies and conduct community level health research. We collaborate with community partners to promote healthy weights through good nutrition and fitness, improve child and maternal health by supporting breastfeeding, create better patient outcomes by increasing cancer screening and vaccination rates, improving chronic disease management, increasing preventative outreach, and standardizing clinical practices. During public health crises like the COVID 19 pandemic, we help to protect community health by providing science and evidence-based information.
Partnership for a Healthy Lincoln also works to improve health equity in our community, addressing disparities among racial and ethnic populations with the highest burden of chronic disease. Systemic racism is also a threat to community health. We stand in solidarity with everyone who is fighting for greater equality and justice for all.
