SUPERINTENDENT'S MESSAGE
Lovejoy Community,

On Monday, I spent time with Abraham Lincoln, Jane Goodall, Walt Disney, and Dolly Partin…to name a few. Our elementary schools held their annual 3rd Grade Living Museum this week and now I understand why many Lovejoy parents with older children have told me that this is their favorite day of 3rd grade. Each 3rd grader selects a person of significance, conducts research, and prepares a biography to present. On Living Museum Day, the students dress in costume, stand around the perimeter of the gym or cafeteria, and place a red “button” on the floor in front of them. Parents walk up, press the button with their foot, and enjoy the student sharing a biography told in the first person. Living Museum was especially fun because I had the opportunity to experience the process and product as a parent. You know it is a significant learning experience when your child is a little anxious about meeting the expectation, takes steps to prepare, and feels the satisfaction of rising to the challenge. As I enjoyed the Living Museum, it was yet another experience where I was moved by the love and regard our staff and parents show to our students. Countless staff members and parents spent considerable time going from child to child, pressing the button, listening attentively, and sharing words of affirmation. 3rd Grade Living Museum is undeniably a Lovejoy Proud moment.

For those of you that have not had the opportunity to visit our 3rd Grade Living Museum, I present to you, The King, Elvis Presley, a.k.a. James Cana, 3rd grader at Puster Elementary School. There is no way you can watch this and not smile.
There is only ONE LOVEJOY and we are ALL LEOPARDS!

Lovejoy Proud,
Katie Kordel
