Cards for the Davids
Dave and Barbara David will soon be moving.
On Sunday, May 15 we will say good-bye to them in worship and during Fellowship Time.

As part of the good-bye, we would like your help by writing a note to them on a 3 x 5 card expressing a memory, appreciation, or thanks. Cards will be available following worship or in the church office. Please return the cards to the church office before Sunday, May 1st. If you have photos of them singing in the choir, working and performing in a play, as a trustee, etc., please drop them off or email them to the church office.
Asbury's Antiracism Ministry: Update!
Asbury’s Antiracism Ministry began formally about 18 months. We felt called to respond to the well-documented choking death of George Floyd, but needed to educate ourselves on the issues, the history, and the nature of racism. We wanted to be actively working against racism in our own lives and in our society. We’ve learned a lot and there’s so much more yet to learn.

We meet via Zoom on the 4th Tuesday of each month, and we would love to have you join us, no matter where you are in your own journey. Our next meeting is Tuesday, April 26th at 7pm and will be discussing portions of the book, Hood Feminism by Mikki Kendall, which examines how the feminist movement does (and mostly does not) help women of color. Check out the book trailer here!

If you’re intrigued by the topic of antiracism and feel called in that direction but a monthly Zoom meeting does not appeal to you, not to worry: you can study the issues on your own time and at your own pace. We have a wonderful resource list of things our group has read, watched, discussed, or recommended to each other. It has books, videos, articles, webinars, movies, TED talks, poetry, and You Tube clips. Browse through it as you would browse through a library or a Netflix menu. Pick something that catches your eye and dive right in. And if ever you want to talk about what you’ve learned, join us on Zoom.
Upcoming Events
May 15: Celebration Sunday!
On Sunday, May 15, we will have a luncheon following worship to say farewell to the Davids, as well as recognize the building committees who put so much work into our new building! Please plan to join us after worship to celebrate!
Women's Celtic Retreat, April 23
All are invited to a day of spiritual renewal right at Asbury. Our theme is “Celtic Spirituality.” Rev. Heather Hammer is leading us in exploring this theme through music, prayer, and fun activities. The cost for the day will be $20.00, including breakfast snacks, lunch, and program. Scholarships are available and childcare is free for all. Please fill out the registration form and return it to the church office by April 17. Contact the church office with any questions.
