Florida is now in play for Democrats. Meaning in play for the White House, Senate, and 8 swing House districts. This is not a drill. This is not a “Democratic Fakeout,” as today's NY Times infuriatingly suggests. This could not be more real.

This week the Florida Supreme Court announced:

1. They are upholding Gov. DeSantis’ brutal 6-week abortion ban, which will take effect in 30 days.
2. They are allowing to appear on the November ballot a measure to enshrine abortion rights in the state constitution…
3. …as well as a measure to legalize recreational marijuana.

Within minutes, Field Team 6 officially added Florida to our target states for November. We immediately hammered out a deal with data vendor Civitech to buy all their email-able contacts for unregistered likely Democrats in Florida, and set up a donations page – please help us finish raising this money today! – and we will use that to deliver over 60,000 new pro-choice voters.

A few hours later, the Biden campaign announced they will also be targeting Florida. Here’s why – and here’s what the media does not understand. Since the Trump Court overturned Roe v Wade, abortion rights have been on the ballot 8 times, in 8 states. 

Abortion rights won 8 times. 

But those must’ve all been blue states, right? Wrong. Abortion rights won in Montana, in Kentucky, in Ohio by 13 points, and in Kansas by 18 points. Abortion rights won because as a nation, we are not going back 50 years. This is not even close to acceptable. Abortion rights won because in America, we defend our freedoms.

We can win in Florida. Full stop. If we do, we can not only take the White House in a landslide, we can take back the House, and we have a shot at 51 in the Senate. That means passing national abortion rights. And it means passing game-changing voting rights that, among other things, will un-gerrymander Florida. LFG!!!!

FLORIDA IS GROUND ZERO FOR ABORTION RIGHTS!

Time to flip Florida! So what's the plan? First step: emails! They're surprisingly cheap (just half a cent each!) and wildly effective! How effective? In 2022, Field Team 6 reached out to 5 million unregistered, likely Democrats. Among those who received email, 40% registered as blue or purple voters (Democrats or independents). You read that right!

We need to raise $21,289 (and we’re over half way there!) to buy 183,358 records for unregistered likely Democrats, and another $1,375 to email them twice. If even one in three of these Floridians register to vote, we could add over 61,000 new blue or purple voters to the rolls by November!

Just like 2020, this year's election will come down to a few key swing states. If we can win there, we can save democracy and prevent Trump and the GOP from causing chaos for another 4 years.

THURS, APRIL 11: DON'T STOP, CAN’T STOP, WON'T STOP THE BYOP!

About 16 months ago, we put a crazy idea into practice: a free text banking platform called "BYOP" – or Bring Your Own Phone. It was developed by our own genius volunteers, led now by coding wizard Alicia. All it takes is a laptop and a Google Voice number (or other options) and one hour-long training session!

Because while texting is a super effective way to register new Democrats, it's expensive as heck. Free BYOP texting is the solution! Especially when hordes of volunteers swoop in to help!

In January of 2023, we sent 621 free BYOP texts. In March, we sent 8,478. In July, we sent 15,487. In October, we sent 22,074! In January of this year we sent 111,889. In February we sent 137,827. March? 214,776! Bet you didn't think the numbers were that high, eh? It’s happening!
