Preparing for Growing Old Series FREE @ Still Waters Adult Day Center
Planning ahead is hard because you never know how your needs may change. The first step is to think about the kinds of help you might want in the near future. Maybe you live alone, so there is no one living in your home who is available to help you. Maybe you don't need help right now, but you live with a spouse or family member who does. Everyone has a different situation. Then you also need to look at your health and wellbeing. As we age, we need to look at ways to stay active and healthy. Another factor to consider is financials. Do you have a revocable trust? Do you need one? How do you get services provided when needed? You don't need to attend all 6 you can attend the ones that interest you specifically.

So many questions to ponder but we are here to help! Beginning in March we will offer a FREE 6-week series covering these various topics. We have amazing community providers coming in to cover these topics. Then join us for a fun activity after to engage with other people in your community. Thanks to Anthem we are able to offer this series free to seniors. We are limited on space so please do not forget to register.

Caregiver Spotlight- Ms. Teresa and Ms. Ginny

When we think of this month's caregiver, Ms. Teresa, this quote makes us think of her, “Each day brings new opportunities, allowing you to constantly live with love – be there for others – bring a little light into someone’s day. Be grateful and live each day to the fullest.” -Roy T. Bennett.
Ms. Teresa is a caregiver to her Aunt Ginny. Ms. Ginny initially started her journey in an assisted living facility but then COVID hit, and the facility wouldn't allow any visitors. They were unable to see each other at all. It was very hard on both of them. Ms. Ginny was more of a mom to Ms. Teresa all of her life. She always was loving, fun, quick witted and strong...always there for her and had become a shell because of the isolation due to Covid.
Ms. Teresa and her husband decided it would be in the best interest for Ms. Ginny to bring her home to live with them. After a few months at home, they realized she was bored with no routine and missed being around other friends. In November 2020 they found us at Still Waters! Now Ms. Ginny is most content with both worlds.... Home and Still Waters.
Ms. Teresa brings love to not only Ms. Ginny but also to Still Waters. Every season she decorates our outdoor patio. She brings so much love to all our guests as we all get to experience this beautiful space. A caregiver brings light into everyone's lives. Thank you, Ms.Teresa, for all you do for us all!

"I believe AG wouldn't be here with us if we hadn't brought her home and also found Still Waters...when not there one the weekends her preference is to sleep all day! Still Waters gives her purpose and enjoyment. We are all very grateful to everything you offer and the care you extend to AG as well as the other guests. You also offer nurturing to me as I work with the ups and downs of caregiving for someone who is but is not present as she used to be", Ms. Teresa
Huge shout out to our supporters!
We were blessed to receive funding from the Summer Youth Program Fund- Central Indiana Community Foundation to bring intergenerational programs this summer to Still Waters. Thanks to the collaboration with Ms. Tammi our movement therapist and Arts with a Purpose we will be bringing in arts, music, and movement three days a week to our guests and friends at CUMNS. Through the partnership of the summer camp our goal is to help our youth be more willing to share, help and cooperate with elderly persons. This partnership will increase the social awareness for communicating with older people and increase the positive attitudes toward aging and the elderly using expressive therapies. Thanks SYPF for this opportunity!

Thanks to everyone that donated during our GIVING TUESDAY to help us get new carpet and flooring in the center. Check out the new flooring at the center. It looks amazing. Thanks for all your love and support.

This beautiful gift of devotion to another human being often results in self-neglect. When we can access and honor our own feelings and needs, share similar experiences with others, and discover the lessons along our paths, we return to our loved ones strengthened and replenished.
