SEAL Analytical Monthly Newsletter - April 2021
MONTHLY TROUBLESHOOTING TIP
Potassium persulfate is a chemical used in total nitrogen and total phosphorus digestion. SEAL has found that the dry chemical of potassium persulfate is often contaminated with nitrogen compounds that break down during the digestion process. This will show high background color when running total nitrogen on the analyzers. Recrystallization of the dry chemical shows improvement in the background color.
SOFTWARE FEATURE: AACE - QC Chart
QC charts can be used to check the precision and accuracy of a channel (method) over time. To use this feature, a separate QC chart must be set up for each channel of an analysis and each QC cup. There can be 10 different types of QC cups defined (QC1 - QC10).

The calculated concentration values for the QC cups can be automatically copied into the QC chart. They are collected over a certain period (units, runs, days, weeks, or months). This means that the QC cups can be included in every run, in one run per day, per week or per month. The results of the first period will be used to check for QCs that are out of limit for the next period.

The QC chart is a quick and easy way to track specific QCs for each channel over time.
