Rome Club Kicks Off Child Abuse
Prevention Month With Pinwheels
The Exchange Club of Rome kicked off Child Abuse Prevention Month on April 1 with the placement of over 100 blue pinwheels. Each pinwheel signified a confirmed case that was handled by Rome's Exchange Club Family Resource Center, the Georgia Districts only fully accredited CAP center, and other partners in child abuse prevention in Rome and Floyd County. The pinwheel placement kicked off a month of programs throughout the community focusing attention on child abuse prevention.

Rome Club Presents Additional $15,000 To Their CAP Center
The members of the Exchange Club of Rome presented it's CAP Center, the Family Resource Center (FRC), with an additional check for $15,000 for continued work in Child Abuse Prevention. "Collaboration" Emphasized At Rome Club CAP Meeting |
Exchange Club of Rome members spotlighted "The Light of Prevention" at the annual Child Abuse Prevention month meeting. Not only did the club hear about the accomplishments of Rome's Family Resource Center, but they heard from LaDonna Collins, Director of the Rome/Floyd Commission on Children and Youth with a powerful message. Some Exchange Club of Tifton members attended the Voice for all Children Pinwheel Ceremony on April 1, kicking off April as Child Abuse Prevention month. April 1 was also Wear Blue Day , so club members showed off their blue shirts! The club also featured a special program at its meeting. When a child enters the foster care system, it can be a confusing, scary time. They need someone on their side. That’s where a CASA volunteer enters the picture. Cindy Shaw and Kristi Gilley with Coastal Plain Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) updated the club.

Judge Render Heard continued Tifton's CAP month theme. Judge Heard shared the experiences of holding juvenile court during the pandemic. Currently court is
being held about 90% virtually, but that hasn't been all bad.

Bikers Against Child Abuse Present Program
To Statesboro
With a loud rumble of the engines, these bikers have a big heart and like Exchange, want to do all they can to eliminate child abuse. Members of B.A.C.A. (Bikers Against Child Abuse) explained their mission to the exchange Club of Statesboro during CAP month.

Macon Club Kicks Off CAP Month With Local Affiliate Center Director
Crescent House is an Affiliate Child Abuse Prevention center of the National Exchange Club CAP program in Macon. The Exchange Club of Macon began its observance of CAP month with Kemberlie Sanderson, a Macon Club member and the manager of Crescent House, speaking to its members. She likened treatment of abused children to the planting of flowers. Flowers need to be planted in fertile soil, treated with nutrients, given nutrients, and plenty of sunlight. Abused children need a fertile & safe environment filled with nutrients of love, hope, and acceptance. Just as the flowers, children need the sunlight and water to grow and heal. All of this presents us with the positive theme of “Growing Children Together” as people come together to help the abused children.

Tifton Club Members Hear About Child Advocacy And Sexual Assault Centers
Members of the Exchange Club of Tifton learned about two programs in their community that fit right in to the CAP theme. Patticake House is a child advocacy center and Ruth’s Cottage is a sexual assault advocacy, domestic violence prevention and emergency shelter.

The deadline has past for Club Bulletins, A.C.E., and Youth of the Year. The deadline for the rest of the Georgia District Awards in May 15th, and this is what you need to know.
- If your club is entering for any of the remaining awards, all of your material for your club's award package MUST BE SUBMITTED ELECTRONICALLY to Awards Chair Kay Griffin and be received by May 15th. Any received after that date will not be judged.
- Your club must be current in District and National dues at the deadline or the entries can not be judged.
- For officer award entries, a copy of their Exchange University certificate must be included or the award nomination cannot be judged.
- Please read over the forms carefully. If a resolution from your club is required, it must be included or the award nomination cannot be judged.

PLEASE NOTE THIS CHANGE: If you club plans to enter the Harold N. McMillon Club History Book competition, the entries will be judged AT THE CONVENTION. You must indicate on line 8 of the competition entry form that your club will be entering this category and this form must be received by May 15th with your other award entry forms. Bring the club history books to convention and do not send them in for judging. Books must be at the convention by 10 AM June 4th for judging.

Albany Club Creates New Use For Fairground Land
The Exchange Club of Albany is now providing a needed service for their community by creating a year round motor home/travel trailer park. The club utilizes a portion of their property which also is home of the Southwest Georgia Regional Fair. This newly created area has 30 and 50 AMP Breakers, sewer and water hookup.

Albany Honors Local Law Enforcement And Remembers Fallen Officers
At the Exchange Club of Albany, this annual program is designed to honor the women and men who serve as law enforcement officers. Exchange honors these dedicated Officers for handling each emergency with uncompromised competence and integrity, for being the steady voice in a storm, for using courage and compassion, and for providing such a meaningful service to the citizens of the community.

State DAR Leaders Visit Rome To View And Learn About 100th Anniversary Of The Tomb Of The Unknown
State leaders of the Daughters of the American Revolution visited Rome to learn about the 100th anniversary of the Tomb of the Unknown in Arlington Cemetery and view the 1/2 sized replica project of the Exchange Club of Rome. DAR chapters throughout the country are requesting the Rome Club to bring the exhibit to their city.

Macon Club Presents A.C.E. Award

Brunswick Hears From Coast Guard About Salvage Effort
It made the national news months ago when a large cargo ship ran aground off the coast of St. Simons Island and the Exchange Club of Brunswick was briefed by U.S. Coast Guard officers on the status of the situation today and the whole salvage process. Tifton Club Raises Funds With Sporting Clay Tournament To Fight Abuse
The Exchange Club of Tifton sponsored the recent Ruth’s Cottage/Patticake House Champions of Hope Sporting Clays Tournament. It was held at the new Big Creek Plantation in Irwinville, GA. The club also had a team participate in the tournament.

Golfs4 Kids Tournament
April is Prevention of Child Abuse Month and that means time for Golf 4 Kids Golf Tournament. They met at Bull Creek Golf Course and WOW - did they have fun! 22 fun golf teams, great weather, a super volunteer workforce, lunch snacks and prizes. All monies raised stay in our community.
