In the history of questions, there has never been an easier one - our Volunteers, of course! If you visited the food bank in years past, you would have noticed a stunning number of volunteers scuttling around our warehouse and distribution area/Market. Our Volunteers help our Clients, help pick up and sort food donations, help thank our wonderful donors, help out at events, and in general, help the food bank deliver our amazing program to local families in need.

We said goodbye to them all almost exactly two years ago when it wasn't safe for them to be at the food bank anymore. Boy did we miss them, oh my goodness.

Since then, things have (overall) improved! As time went by and we learned more and more, (and stopped...you know, quarantining food for 48 hours before touching it lol) the food bank began to welcome our volunteers back in a slow trickle. We were extremely judicious, taking steps backwards when necessary. The model change to our program also made it kind of tough on our volunteers - it is a bodybuilder's full body workout to pull a shift at the food bank! So essentially to care more, we schedule less.

That's all about to change...

With a full dance card on our events season forming and some curious changes happening at the food bank, we are back in the recruitment game again. In fact, you may have seen us recently, bouncing out and about in the (FREEZING!) cold weather trying to snag some volunteers for....dot dot dot (reasons TBA).

Now it's time to tell you, our newsletter audience and one of the biggest ones we have! I wish I could tell you more now but I'll leave you with a question - what could possibly be happening at the food bank that we all of a sudden need a bunch of volunteers? Hmmmm.....

There's one way to find out - email our Volunteer Coordinator, Doel Ganguly at DGanguly@ftfb.us and tell her you'd like to join the ranks of our heroes.
