January 2023

A Message From Our President

Carmen Skurdal

Dear Members,

As this year comes to a close I have to pause and reflect on 2022 and the many accomplishments we achieved as a group. Our number of members has grown to 182, a number that we were uncertain we would see again post-COVID. Although we are primarily a social club we surpassed our donations from past years due to your generosity:

  • We increased our monetary donations to the Tri-County Food Pantry that helped so many families in need
  • We donated beautiful clothes that enabled those in need of appropriate attire to be successful in seeking employment
  • We gave to the book drive so that children would have books to read and hopefully discover a new world through books
  • We donated to Toys For Tots so that we could help give those children a better holiday by opening a present that would otherwise not be there

We received so much positive feedback regarding our speakers and events at our luncheons. Thank you Gabriella!

I am so proud of these accomplishments and it is all because of YOU! Thank you again from the bottom of my heart. I hope your holidays are joyful and that you are surrounded by your loved ones. I look forward to an exciting year ahead and I will see you in January. Here’s to a beautiful 2023!

“The magic in new beginnings is truly the most powerful of them all.”

                              - Josiyah Martin

Luncheon Invitation

from

Gabriella Pietrafitta,1st VP

Hoping everyone is having a fabulous holiday season with your family and friends. I know I had and the results are my pants are tighter because of it. Yuck!

So let’s have a New Year & A New You!

We will have two professionals from Blue Water Spa as our luncheon speakers.

Kandi is a body specialist who is well versed in treatments such as Coolsclupting, Emsculpting and Endermologie that work to burn away stubborn fat, build muscle mass and reduce cellulite for your 2023 body goals.

Catherine, the nurse practitioner, is a Licensed Medical Professional that has helped clients reverse time with Botox and Filler.

I asked that they have plenty of before and after pictures to inspire us.

Your money will be transferred to the next month's luncheon or refunded if we have someone on the waitlist to take your place. If there is no waitlist, your money will not be refunded as we have to pay the club for your lunch.
Reservations are not transferable to another member or guest.

Waitlist:
If you miss the deadline and want to attend the luncheon, you will be placed on a waitlist in the order that we receive your request.
Please be aware that a cancellation may not occur until the day of the luncheon or there may not be any cancellations. We will do our best to clear the waitlist but cannot guarantee you a spot.

Weather Conditions: If a luncheon or other event at The Country Club at Wakefield Plantation is cancelled due to weather or other conditions at no charge to WWC, we will apply your reservation payment for that event to a future luncheon or you can request a refund. However, in the event that the country club does not cancel an event we regret that we are unable to refund or reapply the payment, since the country club will still charge WWC for that luncheon or event. If you have any reservations questions or concerns, please contact Regina Fioto at wwclub.reservations@gmail.com

Community Update
Mary Beth Cristinziano and Karen Toth

Thank you to everyone who donated to Toys for Tots in December. We collected over 100 toys! We also donated $386 to the Tri-Area Ministry Food bank in December! Thank you!

Our focus in January will be The Hope Center at Pullen, which connects young people aging out of foster care in Wake County with the resources and support they need for a successful transition. We will collect any kind of new kitchen/cooking item: oven mitts, spatulas, pots and pans, cutting boards... The Hope Center sets these kids up in apartments and they need all of these supplies for their new living arrangements.

News on Activities

from Tamara Porter

Ladies, we are coming up on a New Year and new opportunities to get involved in small groups!!

Here are a few highlights:

*Fun with Fitness group is open to all who want to get together for walking, or other fitness related activities with NO PRESSURE! Lots of fun to be had! Reach out to Karen Delgado to be added to the list.

*We are looking to add a third Bunco group, but need a coordinator. Please let me know if you would like to coordinate hostess homes and send out monthly sign-ups to attend. It is such a fun easy game to play while chatting and eating/drinking beverage of choice.

*Bridge group is looking for members that already know how to play at some level. Contact Sue Lanka for details.

*Dinner Club will begin in January, be on lookout for more information from Sujata!

If you have suggestions for other groups, please let me know.

Happy New Year!

Tamara
