Population health outreach: View the patient outreach being conducted on your behalf to support quality outcomes and close quality care gaps.

Updated COVID vaccine guidance to persons 65 years and older: The CDC have updated their COVID vaccine guidance to recommend persons 65 years and older should receive an additional dose of 2023–2024 Formula COVID-19 vaccine. The additional dose is to be administered at least four months following the initial dose of the updated 2023-2024 COVID-19 Vaccine. ACIP Vaccine Recommendations and Schedules | CDC

Measles Awareness: Chicago has recently seen an increase in measles cases, and physicians and APCs should be alert for patients exhibiting signs and symptoms. Measles typically causes a rash, high fever, cough, runny nose and watery eyes. Patients suspected of having measles should be immediately masked. Place them in a room with the doors closed (preferably negative pressure room), call local public health and contact Advocate Infection Prevention if at an Advocate site. Learn more.

New resources for your patients: In addition to helping close other care gaps, the Comprehensive Annual Visit Program can now help your Medicare Advantage and Medicare Shared Savings Program patients complete Advanced Care Planning conversations, including through a virtual visit. Learn how to refer using a Service To order or by calling 866-225-9528.

Bookmark this – a new way to reset your password: Effective Feb. 29, changes were implemented for password resets to enhance security for the Advocate Health network. These changes impact any Advocate Health account, including APP Pro and Epic. As a reminder, you may use an AdvocateOne ID to access these accounts, such as an a, b or c number, or use LastName_FirstName. Learn more.

Improved Medical Staff Services software: Our new software for medical staff and managed care initial and reappointment applications, MD-Staff, will save you time with a simplified process, pre-population of information and one credentialing process when applying to multiple sites. No action is needed at this time. You will receive an email from service@mdapp.com with instructions on how to log in when initially applying or due for your next reappointment. Read more.

Pharmacy & Therapeutics updates: Review the latest Pharmacy and Therapeutics ambulatory and regional committees’ decisions. View February summary.

Reminder – CT Heart Scans: Self-referrals for CT heart scans are no longer accepted. We will continue to offer heart scans at $49 for early diagnosis of heart disease for patients. More Practices Live on Epic Connect: On March 4, seven APP aligned practices including 29 physicians went live on Epic Connect in our first go-live for 2024. This brings the total number to 65 practices including 130 physicians, covering over 58,000 attributed lives. Having our APP aligned practices on our instance of Epic helps us advance our population health work, supports care coordination across the network, and greatly enhances safety and quality through a single patient record. The remaining go-lives for 2024 are June 3 and Oct. 1. Reminder: If you are interested in joining Epic Connect, reach out to the Epic Connect team for more details.

Additional Things to Know

Change to masking and visitation guidelines: After observing a steady decrease in respiratory virus cases among our patients and teammates, including COVID, flu and RSV, we are lifting the temporary infection prevention measures in place at Advocate Health Care sites since December. View guidelines.

Conserve and donate blood products: To help conserve blood products, leverage these laboratory parameters in your practice. Register for a March on-site blood drive.

HIV Routine Screening Program launches to improve access to care: Effective March 4, the Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center emergency department is providing HIV testing to patients between 18 and 64 years old as a standard part of their routine screening, unless they choose to decline testing, at no cost to them. This grant-funded pilot will help reduce the number of undiagnosed patients and increase access to care for patients who test positive. This marks a significant step in our pledge to advancing health equity and reducing gaps in care. Learn more.

Reminder – Voting is now open for the 2024-2025 U.S. News & World Report’s Best Hospitals list: Enter your vote before March 22. Help bring attention to Advocate Health Care hospitals and the excellent care you and your teams provide every day by voting in the annual physician survey. This survey could significantly impact a hospital’s overall score. Learn how to vote.
