Life Lessons Learned
on The Gentle Farm
Life on a farm brings peaceful moments, joyful interactions, and can be downright wholesome. It can also be exhausting, frustrating, and heartbreaking. With humor and warmth, Pam will share a few of the life lessons she has learned while nurturing the 32 animals that call The Gentle Farm home.
Music performed live-on-zoom by Chris Johnson on his grand piano.
This zoom-only service starts at 10 am,
Pam Santos is a mother of 5, a social worker, a watercolor painter, and now a farmer too. Over the past few years Pam has seen her dream of creating a peaceful farm become a reality. The Gentle Farm welcomes anyone who could benefit from focusing on the present, in the company of patient, loving, gentle animals. Pam has been a member of this congregation for 17 years and was the Director of Religious Education for 5 years.

I hope you have all marked September 17 on your calendars. The entire congregation is going to have the opportunity to discuss what the future of UUCSC might look like. Start thinking about what you would like to see change or stay the same, what is most important to you about UUCSC, what might you be willing to give up? How can you help to keep us running? ...a lot of volunteer time is required for our current model. I will start giving you some specific questions to think about during the month of August. I think this discussion will be fun (really!) and will prepare us for producing a strategic plan for the next three years.
I continue to enjoy being outside and you may or may not see me on a Sunday morning. Don’t forget that you can watch the homily from this past week’s online service on our YouTube station accessed from our website. I just did and I was inspired by Tammy Brown’s message. I know that my time spent kayaking and swimming strengthen my soul against feeling the despair that one could easily fall into with the state of the world as it is. We each have our own ways that we work to make the world a better place, but we can’t forget that we need to nourish ourselves first. And if we want to find new ways to help, check out Tammy’s list.
And of course, if you are looking to volunteer at UUCSC there are many ways to do so. Starting on August 21 we will be meeting in the sanctuary again with Rev Denis. Would you like to pass out the OOS and help with the collection? Would you like to learn to help run the Zoom service and discussion that will follow the in-person service? Do you keep up on climate change actions? Maybe the Social Justice group is for you. Is there anything that you see that needs doing that you would like to do? Please call me and let’s talk!
Paddling along with optimism,
Elizabeth

Attention All Dining for Dollars PLUS event hosts!
|
|
NOW is a great time to contact all of the folks who are the winners of your event, regardless of if your event is coming soon or is a long time away. Let’s be sure that EVERYONE who bid and won events is aware that they did win your event, and is reminded of the event details (hosts, location, day & time). There are a few winners who forgot to check their email when the notifications were sent out in June, and we don’t want ANYONE to miss their D4$+ events. If you need any information (lists of winners, contact info) please contact Betsy Dalton or Trish Hindley.
One more thing – we also encourage hosts to contact their winners about a week before the event again, just as a reminder.
Thank you, everyone, and enjoy all of your D4$+ events! If you are inspired, take some pictures and we can share them on our UUCSC website!
