Monthly Newsletter | April 2022
Fast Facts:

With over 600 dedicated program coordinators who run Blessings programs in their communities, plus more than 5,000 volunteers nationwide, who pack and distribute food throughout the school year, there's no doubt that volunteers are the heart of our backpacks!

If you have a passion for helping food-insecure children and a few hours a week to spare, you could be a perfect Blessings volunteer.

When millions of children leave school for the summer, they struggle
with access to meals during the week and on the weekends. And while hunger is a worldwide issue, it also happens in our local communities—right in our own backyards. Children shouldn't spend the summer worrying about going hungry; they should be out playing in the sun.

This campaign will run for the entire month of May, culminating on World Hunger Day, May 28. Click here to learn how you can get involved and give back!

Core News:
This week is Volunteer Appreciation Week, and we are shining the spotlight on the individuals who feed kids in their communities on the weekends!
Our CEO Erin Kerr shared, "Because of [our volunteers'] outstanding service and stellar performances, we're on target to provide more than 3 million hunger-free weekends for children this school year."

This year's theme, "Rolling out the Red Carpet for our Volunteers," was inspired by wanting to recognize our volunteers as our very own celebrities. Follow us on social media to meet captivating, talented volunteers across the country who are playing an important role in the lives of children in their community.

And speaking of celebrities—actress, philanthropist, and Blessings in a Backpack supporter Jennifer Garner made a video wishing our volunteers a happy Volunteer Appreciation Week!
