Every week students are exploring a variety of academics, technology, and the arts. Please enjoy some of our favorite traditions and new traditions happening at Park Maitland School.
Lunch can bring students a little closer together.
Art Exhibit
The Park Maitland Perspectives Art Exhibit took place last week. Sixth-grade art teacher, Sandy Bonus, transformed the Park Maitland field by the front of the school into an exhibit of wonder and curiosity. Each year the sixth-grade students create several different art pieces to display in their own art show at the end of the year. This year's exhibition included pieces that were in collaboration with ESW, Social Studies, Architecture, and Math and included The Wall of Words, "The Skin We Are In", Shelter, and the Park Maitland Perspectives.
Language Arts
This week, Mrs. Bartels's and Mrs. Fondo's language art classes worked hard on their non-fiction text feature “About Me” projects!
Social Studies
Fifth-Grade
Neve's Bake Sale for Ukraine
Fifth-grade student, Neve J., was inspired after a discussion in Mr. Minkow's social studies class that she wanted to do something to help the people of Ukraine. "Entirely on her own, she decided on a bake sale and organized the entire event, from beginning to end! The flyer, the marketing, the baking, and the selling," her mother said. The charity of choice was St. Mary Protectress Ukrainian Catholic Church in Apopka, Fl. The church is sending supplies and funds directly to Ukraine where the need is greatest. With the support of the Park Maitland families on Sunday, Neve raised over $1,300 in donations! "Thank you for inspiring Neve into action," Mrs. Judelson said.
First-Grade
Mrs. Bartoszek (Piper's mom in 1 Red) was our guest scientist this week demonstrating chemical reactions with the experiment "making a bag explode"!
JFF EVENT
Sixth-grade students brought picnic blankets and several books to this month's JFF event, Read Me A Story. First-grade students enjoyed their time listening to the sixth-grade read while munching on their Pirates Booty Aged White Cheddar Cheese Puffs as a snack.
