November Newsletter

Message from President Dot Muir

Hi All,

November ! ! ! ! Six weeks until Christmas ... are you ready for it? Haha, I am not.

Well we had a busy October. The good news is that City Council has extended our lease for another year. We tried for a four-year extension but as I said before the city is doing some program changes etc. So we only have the one year lease again.

And so we will carry on and be thankful for what we have.

Our five day opening has been good and has been bad. The lunches are doing well but the activities are slow.

We are starting Eucher on Mondays at 1:00pm so come on over and learn the game. If you haven't played before our girls are very helpful, so don't be shy...

On Tuesday mornings we have a lot of fun with carpet bowling, a non-serious group play. If we get a couple more players, we can challenge each other. Carpet bowling teams have two or four players each. One team can come out as winners and maybe get a little surprise for their efforts. We start at 11:00am now.

Our Halloween Pot Luck was fun with great food and costumes. Wow, a lot of imagination in the group. We had a Fifties girl, a DirtyThirties girl, a Miss Piggy, some witches, a cowboy and a cowgirl. Making her first appearance was the Bingo Whiner. What fun, maybe she will show up at one of the bingo games - keep your eyes peeled for you never know when she may arrive.

Prize winners: Miss Piggy (Pat) and the 50s Gal (Heather). Well done ladies.

President's Message, continued

The garage sale did very well bringing in $1,500. Sam's hot dog and bake sale generated $750 for the repair of the second pool table.

A big thank you to the garage sale volunteers for your hard work over this past week. It's a big job sorting and pricing the items that were so kindly donated to our sale. Thank you to all who donated - every little bit helped.

Christmas dinner tickets go on sale soon. December 21 is the date to remember.

Have a great month, stay warm, see you at the Center. Take care, Dot

Our garage sale was a huge success !

I thank everyone for all of your donations and to all of the volunteers who helped make this event successful.

Without you this would not have happened.

Georgia

Birthday #100

We were pleased to celebrate Flo Perdue's 100th milestone on Friday, October 27th, just before the bingo game. Her son John Perdue was there too as you can see.

Keyboard Wanted

The pianist who accompanies our music group brings her own piano keyboard to the Center when the group is entertaining at an event.

The Center would like to have its own piano keyboard.

If anyone has a used keyboard that could be donated it would be appreciated, and we will provide a tax receipt for the market value of the piano keyboard.

Condolences

We offer our condolences to the family and friends of Dorus Allen. She was a long time member of the Seniors Center and an avid bingo player.
