A message from our Missions Pastor

Hey Legacy Family,

First, I would like to take this opportunity to say thank you for your faithful giving and love towards missions. As you give to the General Fund it allows Legacy Missions to impact the communities around us, along with our partners. I am so grateful that this is a missional church and not just a mission-minded church. We don’t just think or say things that are missional; we act on and towards the things of God, that makes us missional.
Thank you, Legacy, for carrying that attitude everywhere you go.

As you know mission trips will be coming up. See the section titled Mission Trips Informational Meetings below for several options to attend a brief interest meeting after church in one of our classrooms. If you feel the Spirit stirring in you, this will be the meeting for you. If you don’t feel led to go on a mission trip please pray for those who are thinking of taking them.

We celebrate Easter this month, which means great opportunities for us to reach people for the Kingdom of God. This is a season where more people are mindful of the Church, and that is where our opportunity lies. Take this month and make it missional, reach out to those you feel the Lord is guiding you to, pray as you share your faith, and remember to invite them to Legacy Church.

Following Easter Weekend is Missions Sunday! We have invited a partner and friend, David Pothier, Lead Pastor of la Chapelle in Montreal, Canada. Pastor David is one who has the heart of missions and pastors one of the most missional churches I’ve ever witnessed. Please don’t miss out on hearing his great teaching and more about la Chapelle, whether you attend in-person or watch online. As a matter of fact, we will have an additional offering that morning in support of la Chapelle, which will be a great opportunity for us to assist in the work they do in Quebec.

Please continue reading and see all that is happening with Legacy Missions.
Blessings,
Patrick
Missions Spotlight
Missions Sunday
April 24th
The mission statement for la Chapelle is based on Matthew 28:19, "Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit." La Chapelle is a church-planting movement that exists so that people who are far from God become disciples of Christ, who in turn develop more disciples.

We are excited to have a guest speaker, Pastor David Pothier, on Missions Sunday from la Chapelle. Please mark your calendar so you do not miss the opportunity to hear what Pastor David has to share. We will have an additional offering on Missions Sunday to support the la Chapelle ministry.
Baptist Student Ministry
Legacy Church Missions is once again sponsoring the Baptist Student Ministry (BSM) free lunch outreach for international students on the UTD campus on Tuesday, April 19th, in the Student Union Galaxy Rooms. This is the last BSM lunch for the semester.

This is a weekly, very well-organized event. BSM makes it very easy to serve. They even provide table questions to help get the lunch dialogue and conversations going.

Japan Friendship Group Ministry
Did you know we have a Japan Friendship Group Ministry in our midst? Sara Lyn Platt has participated in the program from its early beginnings in 2002. God led her to start an ESL conversational Bible study for a specific Japanese community. Over the years, God's hands on this ministry have been clear. It is now an international ministry with studies being held in homes, online, and in the community in Japan, Belgium, and the US.

We recently added them to our Prayer Initiatives page. Please check often to keep up with all our partners' prayer needs.
Mission Trips Informational Meetings
Pastor Patrick just returned from a 3-day Discovery Trip to the Dominican Republic and he is fired up about going on mission! Summer and fall trips are being planned. If you have interest in knowing more about the upcoming trips, join us for one of the brief informational meetings following church service on either April 10th, May 1st, May 25th, May 22nd, or May 29th. Register HERE.

Attending a meeting is not a commitment to go on a trip. Patrick will share information and ask you to be in prayer about how God can use you.
Celebrate the Wins

Thanks to your faithful giving to the General Fund, in addition to Legacy's monthly giving to our mission partners, we celebrate:
  • Numana - $1,300 for over 3,300 meals for the Ukrainian refugees in Poland and Romania

Children's Hunger Fund - Food Pak Campaign
Thank you, Legacy Church. All of our boxes are on their way to churches in the DFW area for distribution to families struggling in poverty. We filled 157 boxes! With the boxes and monetary donations, we provided 6,576 meals from our campaign. Way to go Legacy Church!
Birdies for Belles
In support of Belle and Sparrows, Legacy Church was a Hole Sponsor for the 2022 Golf Tournament. In addition, we sent a 4-man team to represent us. Thank you, Dustin Chappell, Phil Jannetto, Kyle Groombridge, and Brandon Wash for giving up your day. We do not know how much was raised at this time, but it looks like it was a great day for all.
Real Options Baby Shower
Legacy Church is partnering with Real Options For Women once again next month to provide much needed supplies to bless clients that chose life.

Stay tuned!!
