FAME - Financial Accelerator Marketing Expeditor


The Small Business Development Center is thrilled to roll out a NEW free program for small businesses!

Are you considering using QuickBooks, or need to better understand how to use your existing account and report features? Maybe you have tax law or accounting questions or are considering CFO Services.

Is choosing, setting up, and effectively using the plethora of social media platforms keeping you up at night? Or do you need a real SEO strategy?

If you've answered yes to any of those questions set up a meeting with your SBDC business advisor to discuss your current needs and to evaluate if applying for the FAME program can help you accomplish your goals.

FAME will connect you with Finance and Digital Marketing consultants for up to 5 hours at no cost to you. FAME is available to SBDC clients who are in need of expert external support in marketing or financial matters. If you are not an SBDC client, you could become one. Simply request advising, meet with your SBDC business advisor, and ask them about the FAME program.

Champions in Action: Innovation & Transformation Grant

This Citizens Bank program is designed to support nonprofit organizations that are addressing social challenges facing their communities.

Award recipient will get:

  • $35,000 in unrestricted funding
  • Local Media Coverage
  • Volunteer Support
  • Promotional Opportunities

Eligibility:

  • Be a nonprofit organization based in Eastern or Western Pennsylvania, Massachusetts, New Hampshire or Rhode Island that addresses a specific social concern (topics are announced bi-annually in February and July)
  • Provide proof of tax-exempt status under Internal Revenue Code Section 501 (c)(3)
  • Have a total operating budget of $5 million or less
  • Previous Champions in Action may reapply after five years have lapsed

Deadline: Applications will be open March 7-25, 2022. Winners announced in July 2022

The Madelaine G. von Weber Trust Grant - For Nonprofits Only!

The Von Weber Trust funds charitable projects throughout New Hampshire that will have a lasting effect on the state and its residents. Applicants for this grant should demonstrate good governance, a sustainable program, strong community/board of trustees support, a track record of valuable service to the community, and a compelling rationale for why the requested funds are needed.

Award:

  • Up to $25,000

Eligibility:

  • Must be a New Hampshire-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. 
  • Project areas of interest include Environmental and Conservation Initiatives, Music and the Arts, and Social Services. To learn more about what proposals have been funded in the past visit this link.

Power Forward Grant

Vistaprint, the Boston Celtics Shamrock Foundation & the NAACP teamed up to empower Black-owned small businesses. Grants are awarded on a rolling basis until funds run out.

Award:

  • $25,000 grants
  • Marketing and Design resources

Eligibility:

Qualified applicants must be Black-owned small businesses with 1 to 25 employees and be based and operating in Massachusetts, Maine, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Vermont, or select areas of Connecticut. Applicants should be able to demonstrate the impact their small business has on their greater community and showcase how they intend to use the $25,000 grant award.

Business Planning: Getting to Your First Sale (Free 10 Week Course)

Center for Women & Enterprise is offering a free 10-week course for new businesses that will help to get you to your first sale. Open to all genders!

Do you have an idea for a business that you want to launch or explore more deeply? Have you always dreamed of becoming an entrepreneur, but you were never sure where to start?

Statistics show that new businesses with a plan grow faster than businesses without. This program will help you determine whether there are people out there ready to buy your product or service, how to reach those people, how to price your product and service for profitability, and will help you build a solid business model – and get to your first sale!

The course will conclude with a community celebration where participants will present their pitch decks and celebrate their graduation with their new network of peers and supporters, including members of the local business community. 

Dates: This course will be held on Tuesdays, beginning on 3/8/2022, and ending on 5/17/2022. Classes are held from 5:30 to 8:30 pm.

Cost: FREE!!!
