Mission, Vision and Values

When was the last time your board reviewed your school's mission and vision statements? Are they good statements? Who gets involved in creating them? Done well, they give clarity and direction for your school.

This may also be a good time to reaffirm your school's values. Have they changed or evolved? Have the events of this past year given your school reason to re-examine your core beliefs that will guide the choices you make in operations and how you deal with your school community.

Assuring that your board and school community are completely aligned and clear on its values, mission and vision will help you get through tough times, as collectively, they will be your north star. Take the time to reaffirm these important statements.

BoardSource has a great tool to help you review or revise your mission and vision statements.
