A Message from Mayor Susan Shin Angulo
|
|
Dear Neighbor:
This time of year often brings a sense of hope as the weather begins to warm up, plants begin to bloom, and we celebrate upcoming holidays with our friends and families. With the distribution of vaccines around the country, that sense of hope has increased this year as we are more open to gathering safely for Passover, Easter, and Ramadan.
According to the CDC, if you are fully vaccinated, you can gather with other fully vaccinated friends and family members without wearing masks. But to ensure the safety of others, if you gather with unvaccinated people from more than one other household, plan your gathering outdoors. If you gather indoors, improve ventilation by opening doors and windows and using fans. Continue to wear a mask, stay at least 6 feet apart from others, avoid traveling, and watch out for COVID-19 symptoms. If you do have symptoms, get tested and stay home.
Last year was a difficult and confusing time for all of us - allowing us to lose that sense of hope during an important time of year. It was a time when we should have been getting together with loved ones, but instead we were seeing each other virtually. This year, no matter what holidays you celebrate, let us remember to continue to stay safe and continue to protect those around us.
Sincerely,
|

COVID-19 PROTOCOLS PER THE ORGANIZER:
“We will be following all CDC guidelines and taking the proper precautions to ensure the safety of all our participants. There will be plenty of space for all participants to be socially distanced prior to start time and during the award ceremony. If not able to properly socially distance, we ask all individuals to wear a mask during that time. We will have a staggered start with a few different start windows spread across every 15 or 30 minutes, capping each window at a certain number of runners/walkers to keep large groups at a minimum. There will be sanitary stations throughout for extra safety.

Spotted Lantern Fly Invasion
|
|
|
The newest pest to invade our area, the Spotted Lantern Fly, hopped a ride from China and other points in Southeast Asia. It's spreading from Eastern Pennsylvania to New York, Delaware, and now New Jersey, including Camden County, causing alarm at state departments of agriculture, the US Department of Agriculture, and those who care for or manage natural lands including the Cherry Hill Environmental Board.
Invasive species rob nature of the plants and animals that are supposed to live in our area. The Spotted Lantern Fly is the latest threat to native trees, plants and the wildlife they depend on.
How can you help stop the Spotted Lantern Fly invasion?
-
Complete the NJ Department of Agriculture checklist
- Remove one of its host plants, the Tree of Heaven. This invasive tree was introduced from China and has spread far and wide in the US.
- Stomp on every Spotted Lantern Fly you see.
