Road Construction on 10th Ave., York St. and Industrial Park Dr.
The 2021 Industrial Park Infrastructure Improvements project is scheduled to begin on June 8 and continue through November. The project area will include York St., Industrial Park Dr. and 10th Ave. (from Commerce Dr. to High St., with the possible inclusion of High St. to Main St.). Work will involve road reconstruction and resurfacing; water main replacements; sanitary sewer replacements; storm sewer replacements and additions; curb additions, replacements and repairs; and sidewalk additions and replacements.

Construction will start at the south end of the project area (Industrial Park Dr. and York St.) and continue onto 10th Ave. The contractor will maintain access to homes and businesses during the project, but 10th Ave. will be closed to thru traffic for portions of the project. For more information, click here to visit the project webpage.
2021 Property Re-Assessments
The 2021 Assessment Notices will be mailed to property owners this week. In a re-assessment year, most property owners should receive a notice. If you do not receive a notice by June 15, contact Assessor Jim Henke at jhenke4737@gmail.com or (262) 498-7473. The assessment notice will provide the 2021 assessed value as well as information about meeting with the assessor and appealing your assessment, if necessary. Property owners with questions or concerns about their assessment are highly encouraged to schedule an appointment to meet with the assessor during Open Book, which will take place from June 28 until July 2.

A common misconception about re-assessments is that an increase in one's property assessment leads directly to an increase in property taxes. This is not necessarily true in a re-assessment year unless one's assessment has increased higher in relation to other properties in the taxing jurisdiction. For example, if the average assessment in the Village increases 25%, the owner of a home with an assessment increase of 25% would not see an increase in their share of taxes. A re-assessment does not change the total amount of taxes that the Village levies (which is capped by State levy limits). For questions, contact Assessor Jim Henke at jhenke4737@gmail.com or (262) 498-7473.
