A Note from the Pastor
I am really looking forward to worship this week. The handbell choir has prepared a special treat for us all. You won't want to miss it!
On Sunday May 16th, we will have a called congregational meeting immediately after worship. During that meeting, we will hear from the Nominating Committee and elect new elders and the at-large members of the 2022 Nominating Committee, we will acknowledge our graduating Seniors, and we will discuss the plans and protocols for in-person worship. We hope you will make plans to join us. Here is the link for the congregational meeting:

We would love to shower them with cards and well wishes that day, too. You can drop off cards at the church or send cards for the graduates to the church's address. (Be sure to drop them in the mail by Thursday, May 13).

CARING MINISTRY
Volunteer Opportunities
The Caring Ministry is establishing a calendar for June 2021 - June 2022 for anyone that would like to provide 2 to 4 individual home-style meals. Each meal would be placed in a divided container and put in the church freezer. We hope to have two people sign the calendar for each month of the year. That will ensure the pastors will have the flexibility to provide several meals for folks that may need them on very short notice. The Caring Ministry will provide the containers and labels for you to utilize. These containers are freezer safe, microwavable, and stack easily. These are now available in the church kitchen inside a marked tote bag that reads "Ministry Meals."
If you are interested in participating, please contact Jo Bowen (cell 214-793-8612, email - jojotheflamingo@yahoo.com) or Sue Pochyla (cell - 214.789-7597, email - cspochyla@yahoo.com) and indicate your 1st and 2nd choice of months. We will send you a completed calendar so you will be aware of your commitment.
We know that folks are appreciative of home-style meals during challenging times. It is a blessing to be able to support this ministry. Thank you, and we look forward to hearing from you.
Your Friends of the Caring Ministry

MISSION OPPORTUNITY
Caring Fund
Remember the Caring Fund? It has had some changes recently. However, the fund still provides support for Presbyterian Village North and Faith Presbyterian Hospice. The Mission Ministry wants to continue supporting this fund as many of our older members have benefited from it in past years. The Caring Fund drive goes from Mother's Day, May 9 to Father's Day, June 20. Please thoughtfully consider giving. Ways to donate: online, mail check to FPCR or drop off at a drive-thru food pantry.

REASONS TO
REDUCE, REUSE, RECYCLE
Do you know how long it takes some items to decompose in a landfill?
- Plastic wrap, bags, bottles & caps: 10-1,000 years
- Paper products: 2-6 weeks but can take decades depending on the moisture level in the landfill
- Tin cans: 50 years
- Aluminum cans and wrap: 80-200 years
- Glass (the easiest item to recycle): a million years
It's no surprise that our landfills are running out of room. So reduce, reuse, and recycle whenever and wherever you can!
