At the June PACEs Alliance Network Meeting:
Advanced Grief Recovery Method Specialist, Jamee Shermer, MA, shared tools to help children who have experienced loss and grief.
Washington Health Care Authority Medicaid Eligibility Program Manager, Dody McAlpine, provided updates on Public Health Emergency (PHE) coverage, information on the Consumer Notices workgroup, and other resource and project updates. This part of the meeting was recorded and can be viewed here.

NEW! Online Overdose Dashboard tracks data related to substance use disorder
|
Clark County Public Health monitors, analyzes and shares a variety of health-related data on our website.
CCPH epidemiologist Adiba Ali recently created an Overdose Dashboard to provide the community with information on the use of fentanyl, meth, heroin and other opioids. Drug overdose is a growing concern in our community, and this dashboard is the newest resource offered by your Public Health department.

New hotline helps new or expectant moms
The new Maternal Mental Health Hotline is now open. This confidential, toll-free hotline is open 24/7 for expecting and new moms who are experiencing mental health challenges.

FYSPRT launches new newsletter
|
The Southwest Family Youth System Partner Round Table (FYSPRT) is a community-based group of youth, families, professionals and community members from Clark, Skamania and Klickitat counties who are passionate about making needed changes in the system of care that serves youth and families with complex mental health needs. FYSPRT recently launched a new newsletter to share meeting announcements, community info and a spotlight on community members. To subscribe or to contribute ideas and announcements, click here.

DCYF Grant Opportunity for Family Resource Centers
|
Strengthening Families Washington at the Department of Children, Youth and Families (DCYF) is accepting applications for funding to support Family Resource Centers and similar organizations that provide community-based, family strengthening and support services in Washington State. To be considered for this opportunity you must submit a letter of intent by 5 pm on July 11, 2022. Applications are due by 5 pm on July 25, 2022. The Request for Applications (RFA) form is available online at https://dcyf.wa.gov/services/child-dev-support-providers/home-visiting/funding-opportunities. This webpage is updated with FAQs on Friday afternoons. The final day to submit questions is July 15.

A Caring Closet is moving to a new location. The Clark County non-profit will temporarily close starting June 24 and will re-open on July 12 at a new location, 2700 NE Andresen Rd., Suite D4. A Caring Closet provides gently used Durable Medical Equipment to those in need at no cost. They also accept donations. Visit their website for more information.

The study is said to be the first to establish a connection between “peer play ability” before children go to school and improved mental health at the age of seven. Researchers say it is the quality – rather than quantity – of play that matters.
The findings have prompted calls for children who are at risk of poor mental health to be given priority access to high-quality playgroups run by early years specialists to help protect against future mental health problems.

A recent study by The Harvard Chan School of Public Health found that an optimistic outlook was linked with longer life and living past the age of 90 in women across racial and ethnic groups. Read more here.

A multi-sector collaborative of public and private organizations and individuals. We raise awareness about positive and adverse childhood experiences (PACEs) and their long-term impact. We promote trauma-informed approaches and policies to support resilience and healing for people of all ages. All are welcome at our meetings. The Alliance will resume meetings in 2022.

PACEs Action Alliance Learning Collaborative supports learning and awareness about childhood trauma and resilience.

The Community Alliance Network provides a connection for community-serving agencies to meet and connect for potential collaborative efforts;

The Trauma-Informed Schools Workgroup is open to people who work in or with schools in Clark County. We meet monthly during the school year to explore tools, resources and applications of trauma-informed principles for schools.

(Formerly Clark County Breastfeeding Coalition) works collaboratively to improve the health of our community by promoting, protecting and supporting breast/chestfeeding so families have the support they need to continue infant feeding. Our mission is to create an environment that supports breast/chestfeeding as the cultural norm for infant feeding.
|

A member of Safe Kids Worldwide, a grassroots network of more than 600 coalitions and chapters that work closely with law enforcement officers, firefighters, paramedics, health professionals, educators, businesses, public policy makers, and, most importantly, parents and kids to promote safety. Priorities include proper child car seat use, baby's safe sleep, reducing child vehicular injuries and deaths, and water safety. Local coordination provided by American Medical Response (AMR) Vancouver.
