This past October, Hinano Nahinu, incoming BIA Hawaii President, attended the NAHB Leadership Orientation in Washington DC. The orientation was offered to HBA leaders across the country. The purpose of the training was to gain valuable insight into NAHB programs and services, while further developing leadership skills, experiences, and connections to other HBA leaders across the country.
In addition, Hinano visited Capitol Hill to ask for support on several bills including Job Corps which funds HBI programs. She got a seat at the table with a Montana Senator where she shared about our Maui Recovery + Rebuild Fund and asked for Maui rebuild funding support.
Of note, the orientation also included a tour of Capitol Hill during the unprecedented time of the absence of the Speaker of the House.
