Dear Parents:

This is Teacher Appreciation Week! Our teachers have never been more deserving of appreciation than this year. They have worked so hard to plan engaging activities and meaningful lessons to keep the learning alive! None of this has been easy while working around COVID restrictions (not to mention having to pack up and move the school mid year), but their dedication to the students of Trivium is unwavering. Our teachers are the heroes and the heart of our school. We have some special treats planned for the teachers for next week. Below you will find the schedules for both elementary and secondary teachers. Please consider making a donation to the PIE fund to help make this week extra sweet!

Please thank a teacher and show them some extra love!

Proud to be a Knight,
Marsha Cawthon
Principal
The Showcase
We want to congratulate the following Middle School and High School choir students who participated in this year's Vocal Solo Festival. Each student learned a UIL State Division 1 or 2 class vocal solo in preparation for the event.
In addition to learning how to visually and professionally present themselves on stage, the students also learned a brief history associated with their solos. Many of the works spanned from the Elizabethan time period to the American Civil War time period.
Again, we're very proud of all the singers. If you've ever performed a solo in front of a judge and in front of your peers, then you know. Thank you for your continued support of the fine arts in the lives of our students.

Curriculum Corner
Poem in Your Pocket Day, our yearly tradition, was on Thursday, April 29. This annual event is a great way to end National Poetry Month. In humanities classes this month, students have been learning about various forms of poetry and reading poems from both classic and modern poets. Students brought poems to school to share with each other and our school community. They also shared the poetry love with parents by preparing either their favorite poem or writing their own poem to pass out to elementary parents in carline on the morning of April 29th. Poetry is best when shared and read aloud, and Poem in Your Pocket Day is the perfect way to encourage someone with the gift of poetry.
Dissection season is upon us! 7th grade students kicked off the dissections with a bull frog this week. The hands-on approach of dissection allows students to see, touch and explore the various organs and even compare and contrast various systems across species. Having the opportunity to view internal workings of various species strengthens students' comprehension of biological systems. Our teachers are very sensitive to the level of participation that students want to take. Some students simply want to observe, while some students want to participate in a digital or 3d paper model of the dissection. For students in grades 4-9, be on the look out for more information from your child's science teacher about upcoming dissections.
Staff Spotlight: Julie Stein
Mrs. Julie Stein
Julie Stein, aka coffee carpool lady, is in her third year at Trivium as a dyslexia therapist. Julie is incredibly passionate about providing reading therapy to children with dyslexia. It was her own childhood reading difficulties and a dyslexic mother and nephew that drove her passion to become a Certified Academic Language Therapist. Julie is humbled by the opportunity to help students increase their reading ability and change the direction of their educational experience.

In her previous lifetime, Julie received her masters degree in Sports Administration from the University of Connecticut and worked in both college and professional athletics before settling down with her husband Ethan and four children. They moved from North Carolina to Texas about 10 years ago and planted their roots in Lucas. If you can’t find her in carpool, then look for her on a white sand beach reading a book!
Knight Watch
The Annual Trivium Golf Tournament was held this past weekend at Ridgeview Ranch Golf Course. We maxed out with over 100 players this year. This is the only fundraiser for our athletic department, which helps with new equipment, uniforms, and league fees. We are overwhelmed by the support of the participants and volunteers. We raised over $13,000! It was a great event and refreshing to gather outdoors for some golfing fun.
