TEAM 949 WOLVERINE ROBOTICS |
|
Team 949 Wolverine Robotics is Bellevue High School’s robotics team. Every year, we compete under the FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC). By building, designing, and testing a robot to compete in and win competitions, members of our club develop skills that are highly valuable in future STEM careers and life. Through FRC, we are also able to get recognition on a district-wide, state-wide, and national level. We are also able to be directly involved in a community passionate about STEM. In the immersive and tense situations of competition, many necessary skills need to be learned and developed.
Team 949 Wolverine Robotics provides an innovative way to teach students skills that may not be developed in a traditional classroom. These skills are not limited to mechanical, software, electrical engineering, as well as financial management, marketing, photography, and digital media. At the same time, soft skills are also developed, such as on-the-spot problem solving, teamwork, leadership, and public speaking.
Unlike the tightly structured projects of AP Computer Science, or exact specification sheets for 3-D printed designs in Computer Graphics, the development done in robotics is purely from the ground-up, challenging students to code, design, and test with little framework or format. Furthermore, robotics is one of the few clubs that primarily relies on students to manage income and expenses, with real financial risks and rewards involved. Our club operates daily with expenses and income in the tens of thousands of dollars. Last year, we handled around $32,000. This experience proves extremely valuable, as it closely mimics real world applications of these skills. Through this experience we also build a collaborative and caring community.
The success of our club has been widely proven with our alumni, who are now placed across the country in some of the best engineering programs in the world including MIT, Stanford, UW, Yale, Cornell, UC Berkeley, and UT Austin.

Fresh off a win at Mercer Island, your 2-0 Wolverine girls’ basketball team returns to Bellevue for their home opener versus Liberty on Wednesday, December 7th at 7:15pm. They will take on defending League champ, and state runner up Lake Washington on Friday, December 9th at 6:30pm. This year’s team is lead by new head coach Romell Witherspoon, along with newcomers Selene Morrell in the post and Guard Myana Calloway, who dropped 36 points on the Islanders last game.
Come join the team Wednesday for Frat Theme night and your chance to win Bellevue swag in our home game raffle. Friday is White Out theme and Quad night, where girls and boys JV and Varsity all play. It is also select night
where our Bellevue basketball youth teams will be in attendance. We will also raffle off Taco Time gift cards Friday night. Don’t miss out on this years Girls Basketball action.

HOMETOWNTICKETING HOME EVENT PURCHASES
FOR 2022-23 BELLEVUE ATHLETICS

Hello Wolverine Basketball, Gymnastics, and Wrestling families;
Through Hometownticketing, we have created season passes for all of the HOME games we will host this year. This will allow only an initial surcharge being applied to the purchase of the passes. Additionally, the price of the total number of games/passes to be used is also discounted by 10% (example – 10 game pass at $7 per would be $70, minus 10% is now $63 plus surcharge from HTT). This will help balance out the surcharge total and it is only applied once at initial purchase.
This is for HOME games only. Each school we visit OUTSIDE of the BSD will have their individual management for ticket purchasing.
Wrestling has THREE home matches this winter season so the 6 Game PASS might be an option for parents to consider if they are both attending the matches. Gymnastics has TWO home meets so individual tickets might be the best option.
Bellevue High School Girls Basketball have 9 NINE HOME games so our Flex Pass options are:
Adult 18 game flex pass $116.40
Adult 9 game flex pass $59.70
K – 8 - 18 game flex pass $84
K – 8 - 9 game flex pass $43.40
Bellevue High School Boys Basketball have 6 SIX HOME games so our Flex Pass options are:

Individual game tickets will also still be sold to accommodate visiting home and away fans, as well as visiting students and youth accompanying their families.

Business for Good workshop cohosted by Microsoft Advertising and Be Bold Girls
Over the summer, a group of BHS students and their friends worked with passionate adult leads from a non-profit org Be Bold for change, and created Be Bold Girls, aimed at middle and high schoolers who are passionate about making changes to overcome challenges that girls and young women face, and to empower Bold Girls to become changemakers.
On Saturday Dec 10th, from 2:00 to 4:00 PM, Be Bold Girls and Microsoft Advertising will cohost an in-person workshop in Bellevue, WA. During this expert led forum, you will learn how Microsoft and other brands drive social change, and work with a group of professionals and like-minded peers to explore how you can bring your voice to influence an organization's product development, branding and advertising.
