Daily Lenten Offering

Is not this the fast that I choose: to loose the bonds of injustice,

to undo the thongs of the yoke, to let the oppressed go free, and to break every yoke? Is it not to share your bread with the hungry and bring the homeless poor into your house; when you see the naked, to cover them, and not to hide yourself from your own kin?

Isaiah 58:6-7

Holy God, I embark on this season for my own personal transformation, that I may grow into the full stature of Christ. Transfigure also my relationships, that my community may become more just and kind. Amen.

St. Ignatius invites us to prepare ourselves before entering a season of renewed commitment.

  • Have we physically set aside a prayer space for our Lenten journey?
  • What time of day will we pray during Lent?
  • What are the “exercises” or prayer methods we will be using during Lent?

How to create a prayer space:

  1. Choose a spot in your home. Don’t have space? You can use a blank journal as your sacred space.
  2. Decorate. Make it beautiful and pleasing to your heart. Lent is the season of purple.
  3. Leave space. Each week, find an object that helps you remember your faith discoveries.
  4. Visit your sacred space at least once a day.
