Dear Holy Family University Faculty and Staff:
It is with deep emotion that I share with you that Margaret Kelly will be stepping down as Vice President for Mission on June 30, 2021.
With more than 40 years of service to the University, Margaret has been an integral part of our community. She joined Holy Family in 1979 as Assistant to the Executive Director of University Advancement, succeeding her boss and mentor when he passed in 1984. She advanced to Vice President and continued in this position until 2013.
During her tenure, Margaret was responsible for fundraising and marketing, and established many ongoing initiatives, including the annual Golf Outing, the Scholarship Ball, the Named Scholarship Program, and branding and advertising programs to promote the University.
In 2013, Margaret became Vice President for Mission, an office that advances the Mission and Core Values of the University. Some of her accomplishments in this role include creating the Faculty-Staff Dialog Luncheons and the Faithful Listening Faithful Learning Scholars Program and conducting orientation sessions for new employees on the University Mission and Core Values and CSFN Charism and Core Values.
If you have ever attended one of Margaret's sessions -- in person or remotely -- you no doubt have felt yourself changed for the better. The work of creating an environment in which faculty, staff, and students are made to feel welcome and comfortable sharing their spiritual journeys across faith traditions is truly an art form in which Margaret has excelled.
In addition to her experience on campus, Margaret has also spent a great deal of time serving Rotary District 7450--as President of Frankford Philadelphia Rotary Club in 1997, Assistant District Governor from 2002 to 2011, and President of Rotary Club of Frankford Northeast Philadelphia from 2015 to 2017, among other roles. She has always graciously forged partnerships between Rotary and the University to produce community-based service events, including the recent Drive-By Coat and Book Drive.
She has served as the President of the Parish Council at St. Katherine of Siena Catholic Church and was the founding president of The Siena Club at Delaire for St. Katherine’s parishioners living at Delaire Landing. Her commitment to service is admirable.
With her Master of Arts degree in Spiritual Theology from St. Charles Borromeo Seminary, and a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy from Oakland University, Margaret has put her deep knowledge to use in conducting powerful workshops and events that enable our community to thrive spiritually by exploring meaningful topics that align with the charism of family.
We will miss her passion, her spirit, and her unique ability to gather our community in ways that allow them to take time for critical discussions that enrich their lives.
Her work has created a strong foundation for our ongoing efforts in living the Mission in our everyday lives, and we will forever be grateful for her stellar contributions.
Please join me in thanking Margaret for her years of service, for the tremendous impact she has had, for the lives she has touched, and for her invaluable friendship.
