Meet our New Chief Scientific Officer
Steve Rossi
After many years of supporting PSC Partners, we are pleased to welcome Dr. Stephen Rossi, Pharm D, as the Chief Scientific Officer (CSO). Dr. Rossi has worked with patients with chronic liver diseases for over 30 years as a clinician and a researcher. For the past 20 years, he has focused on the development of new drugs for patients with liver disease, including several potential new treatments for PSC. He brings a wealth of experience in clinical research to help lead PSC Partners research programs, including the WIND-PSC study, the International Collaborative Research Network, PSC Partners Research Grants program and other projects critical to our mission.

"After many years working in industry, it is rewarding to return to the patient side of things while still getting to work on important research initiatives, all in the hopes of finding a cure for PSC," says Dr. Rossi.

We are excited to have him as a full-time member of our staff, and he can be reached at stephen@pscpartners.org.

Sandi Explains Reasons for Open Facebook Patient Group
PSC Partners often gets asked why we have two Facebook Support Groups, one open and one closed. Sandi was instrumental in creating both. Below is an excerpt of an explanation from Sandi about why she felt it was important to make some of our PSC patient discussions visible outside of our group.

"Every time I post (in the Open Group), I raise awareness for PSC, not only by sharing my story here with those who have PSC, but also those who can read about it on my newsfeed, etc. (which I've allowed via my privacy settings). I'm also making a statement saying that this is me, and I will not let my illness control what I say and where, etc. I won't hide it no matter what or from whom. My choice isn't for everyone, but, for me, that makes a difference, knowing I'm doing my part to get the word out there and to say I have this. There's absolutely no judgement for anyone who doesn't want to share that way, because, certainly, many people might not, but, for me, that's part of it.

Another part of it is that more than a few PSC doctors and researchers have mentioned to me how much they learn from this group about what's going on with the PSC population, things they may not have realized were 'bigger' than one or two PSCers, etc. So, it's about that, too."

There are numerous ways to stay in touch on Facebook. In addition to the open and closed Facebook support groups, we have an HQ page where we post lots of important information, upcoming events, and more. Additionally, you can visit PSC Partners on other social media platforms, including Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube, and Twitter (X).
Folks who have been in the PSC Partners community remember Sandi Pearlman as a bright, positive light. Her insight, humor, and supportive presence were a real gift to those who knew her.
