Come in for a tour of our work and meeting spaces.
Hello,

This weekend as many of us enjoy days-off, BBQs, and mattress sales, hopefully we will also take time to consciously acknowledge and appreciate the sacrifices made by those in the military and their families.

Security, safety, and freedom are often taken for granted, and not until they are at risk, or denied, do we fully appreciate how precious they are. Let us remember those that lost their lives making it possible for us to feel secure, and to maintain the right to express our frustration when that security is not equally experienced.

Last summer the Galleries @ WORK_SPACE had the honor of hosting the Veterans Art of All Kinds exhibit and the privilege of working with many wonderful Veterans. On June 7th, Juneteenth: The Art of Independence opens with our first event taking place on June 10th as we discuss the meaning of Juneteenth and the varying perspectives on whether it is to be celebrated or commemorated.

We hope you find time to visit the Juneteenth exhibit weekdays (10a-4p) from June 7 - July 30, (we are closed for Juneteenth on 6/18.) We now also have regular weekend hours on the 2nd Saturday of each month; we'll be open from 10a-2p, have artists on-site creating work, and have vendors at the farmer's market down the street.

We hope you find your own way to both celebrate and commemorate this Memorial Day weekend,

With gratitude & much appreciation,
Stacey, Shannon & Michelle

ps- If you want to exhibit art in our Juneteenth exhibit, please send us your digital submission by the end of the day on May 26th. Art drop-off is May 27, 28, June 1 & 2.

This documentary follows the founders, participants, and volunteers of the New London Talent show, a showcase that was started to provide an outlet for the town’s local youth and would grow over the next decade to include more than 65 cities proving that when you face your biases and come together with your talents, you will be surprised by the healing, intentional conversations, and dreams that can arise. Unity begins with accepting our role in stereotyping others and admitting that at any time we can be, are, and have been “Those People.”
