GGUSD Showcases Career Pathways for National CTE Awareness Month

February is National Career and Technical Education (CTE) Awareness Month! GGUSD provides an outstanding CTE program that provides intermediate and high school students with hundreds of engaging courses in 14 Career Pathways that focus on the real-world skills needed for high-paying, in-demand future careers (Goal 3)

GGUSD Schools Host Lunar New Year Celebrations

Throughout the district, GGUSD schools hosted Lunar New Year celebrations ushering in the Year of the Dragon with fun schoolwide assemblies. Bolsa Grande and La Quinta high school lion dancers and traditional dancers performed at numerous schools spreading the joy of the holiday to all.

GGUSD Board Recognizes February Employees of the Month

FEBRUARY EMPLOYEES OF THE MONTH: At its meeting on Tuesday, the Board of Education recognized our February 2024 Employees of the Month: NgocLan Tran who serves as an Instructional Assistant III for Specialized Physical Health at Heritage Computer Science Academy and Amanda Mitton who serves as the choir teacher at Garden Grove High School! These two outstanding employees carry out the Garden Grove Way in all they do! Watch our video to learn more.

GGUSD Recognizes Athletes and Coaches of Character

This week, GGUSD's Board of Education celebrated our Athletes and Coaches of Character who are leaders both on their campus and within their athletic programs. The coaches and student athletes represent GGUSD’s award-winning athletic programs and serve as role models exemplifying integrity, sportsmanship and leadership in the classroom and in their sport.

Santiago High School Opens New Wellness Room

This week Santiago High School celebrated its new Well Space, named the Cavalounge, which is opening to support student and staff mental health and well-being. The Cavalounge will provide students with a safe space to access counseling or find a quiet space to use mindfulness tools and strategies (Goal 2) #GGUSDGoalGetters Board of Education Trustee and Santiago grad Walter Muneton cut the red ribbon to celebrate the occasion. The Cavalounge was made possible thanks to funding through CHOC and OCDE whose representatives joined us for the celebration along with Garden Grove City Council member Kim Nguyen-Penaloza, Santa Ana Councilmember David Penaloza, and a representative from the Office of Santa Ana City Councilmember Jessie Lopez. Thank you to our elected officials for the support and certificates of recognition! #GGUSDPride

Faylane Students Learn about Character

Students at Faylane Elementary School learned about the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. as part of their class activities related to Black History Month. Students reflected on the content of their character and learned about the importance of peace, and kindness. #GGUSDPride We love seeing students learn about history (Goal 1) and its connection to social emotional well-being (Goal 2). #GGUSDGoalGetters
