MARCH FRACTURES
Springtime brings us all outdoors but ease yourself into physical activity
After a less active Winter, many of us feel the need to get outside and exercise once we hit that first day of nice, sunny weather. Exercise is always good, but we need to be aware of what can happen when we stress the bones of our feet too hard.
The month of March can bring about March fractures, which are a specific type of fracture involving the metatarsal bones, which connect to the joints at the bottom of your toes. March fractures are also known as stress fractures, and can come about as a result of repeated stress to bones or sudden increase in activity. It is common in the military, but can also occur in hikers or people who are in situations or professions that require standing.
March fractures are a common cause of foot pain and can often be overlooked because they can initially result in a negative X-ray. Let our doctors properly evaluate you to get down to the bottom of your foot pain.
Our office has on site X-rays to provide expedited treatments for fractures, and other potential foot ailments. Foot problems can be stressful. It is best to see the professionals! And remember, slowly ease yourself into your new springtime walking or running regimen.
