TOGETHER WE CAN!
Note from the Principal
Welcome to May at Central-Denison!

The 2020-2021 school year has certainly brought its share of challenges. We are proud to say that we have met each challenge head on and have grown stronger, wiser, and more appreciative because of them. In reflection, we really do have much to celebrate! THANK YOU for sharing your children with us!

We would like to take this opportunity to share tidbits of information and upcoming dates, as we prepare for the end of our school year and our celebration of learning.

This week, we celebrate Staff Appreciation Week. Central-Denison is blessed to have an amazing staff who go above and beyond every day. Please take a minute to let your child’s teacher know how much you appreciate the time they have dedicated to your child’s success.

We have offered our summer school program to all students this year. It is a three-week program in August that will allow your child to get a little “Jump Start” on the new school year. If you would like to register your child for summer school, please contact your child’s teacher or the school office.

Throughout the month, we have numerous transitional activities planned for our students to help prepare them for the upcoming year. Some examples of these activities include 3rd grade tours of Eastview, a 4K Lunch at School, and a variety of grade level teacher introduction activities with the teachers from the next grade.

In preparation for our incoming 4Kers, CenDen will be hosting our 4K Round-up on May 27th from 4:30-6:00 pm. This event will allow the families of our incoming 4Kers to visit our school, meet the teachers, and get an overall feel for what 4K is all about. Masks will be required. If you know someone with a child who will be 4 years old before September 1st, please share this information or have them contact the school office. Fall registration information will be available at this event as well.

The 4K Fly-Up will be held on Thursday, June 3rd. This is our end of the year program that celebrates the growth that our 4Kers have made throughout the year. The program will be modified a bit to accommodate for necessary spacing and masks will be required. Details will be shared with families as the event draws near.

As we get ready for the end of the year, Central-Denison will incorporate our “D-O-L-P-H-I-N” Countdown. These special dress-up days and fun activities allow our students to celebrate the end of the year together, as a school family. Specific details will be shared with our families later in the month.

The CenDen End of the Year Field Day will be held on Friday, June 4th. Our students will spend time with their class celebrating their successes of this past year. It is important to remember that some of the most valuable learning that takes place in our school is not about academics. Our children are exposed to social experiences and character building opportunities throughout their day. Showing good character and making good decisions will help our children become the leaders and role models of our future.

Proud to be a part of the CenDen Family,

Becky Buhler & Colin Nugent
