Textbooks


Reminder For All Students:

We need your overdue library books, borrowed Chromebooks and textbooks returned! Please don't let them get lost or damaged by waiting too long to return them. If you still have books from middle school, we are happy to take them back here at Cal. Also, a reminder that you must be in good standing to purchase tickets for Junior Prom. Thank you!


Student Handbook Textbook Policy

Due to the recent spike in car break-ins, we would like to remind our community of the Student Handbook policy regarding Textbooks. Please treat our property as you would your own and do not leave books in your car. Thank you.

Faculty and Staff Valentine's Treat Bar


The PTSA Hospitality is looking for the community's support in showering our teachers and staff with love on Valentine's Day. We are hosting an all day grab and go snack bar which will not be successful without your support. Please consider signing up for an item or two to donate towards this event. Community Book Night


Join your Cal High Librarians and your Cal High community in conversation about the novel The Weight of Blood by Tiffany D. Jackson on February 15th at 6pm in the Cal High library. From the publisher: "Author Tiffany D. Jackson ramps up the horror and tackles America’s history and legacy of racism in this YA novel following a biracial teenager as her Georgia high school hosts its first integrated prom." This is intended to be a partner read with a student and trusted adult. Students, grab a parent, coach, an aunt, or teacher and get reading!

50th Anniversary Edition of the Cal High Yearbook (2024)


1) Purchasing a yearbook:  Please check this list (link here) to see if you have purchased a yearbook (press <ctl><f> to find your name). Ms. Brindley is now selling yearbooks for cash or check only (payable to Cal High Yearbook) in WL-1 until all the ordered yearbooks have been sold. The past two years we have sold out the yearbooks, so please DO NOT WAIT to purchase a yearbook.


2) Deadlines: Please know that the yearbook class has very tight deadlines and all senior and underclassmen pictures have been sent in to be published. The book must be completed by March 28th. It is too late to make any changes to senior portraits and underclassmen pictures.

Class of '24 Grad Night Celebration

Grad Night tickets are still available for purchase in Future Fund

Tickets are available to purchase via Future Fund. Price of the ticket includes food, games, and entertainment, multiple chances to win raffle prizes at the end of the night, and a keepsake memento.


If you are interested in helping with event pre-planning or decorating, please contact the Grad Night Chair @ calhighgradnight@gmail.com, or attend our next planning meeting on Monday, February 5th at 7pm in the Library.

Senior Wall Photos Needed


Senior Parents:

Grad Night is right around the corner and one of the highlights of the evening is the “Senior

MemoryWall.”

What is the Memory Wall? It is a poster with photos of your senior through the years.

These posters will be hung at the event for all the students to enjoy and take home at the end of the

night.

What is needed from you the parents? 10 photos (no larger than 4x6) these photos will be cut,

glued, and laminated. Place these photos in a gallon size Ziploc bag with your students’ full name and drop it off in the box at the school office BY MARCH 31st .

Everyone at California High School would like to congratulate these two students for their time and talent in participating in this year's Art Reflections!! 

32 District Reflections have selected 26 entries that will be advancing to CAPTA and 20 out of the 26 District PTA winners are entries from our Council!

Two of these students are from Cal High!! 


Next Year's [2024 - 2025] Art Reflections theme has already been decided - Accepting Imperfection 

6 categories; Dance Choreography. Film Production. Music Composition. Photography. Visual Arts. Literature

Create art in any named category with the theme at its core and include an Artist Statement.

Spring Sports at Cal High:

Any students interested in trying out for a Spring sport can check the Cal High athletic website.

For any questions about the upcoming season contact the Head Varsity Coach for information.

Spring sports tryouts begin on Monday, February 5!  All athletes who try out must have an athletic clearance on file. Visit the Cal High Athletics website for more information about the clearance process and each team's tryout dates/times. Go Grizzlies!

California High Ed Fund/Academic Boosters

Teacher Grants and Student Academic Club Grants

California High School Education Fund has proudly given 11 teacher grants for a grand total of $8.542.36 for 2023-2024 school year. The grants include support of purchasing books, cameras, supplies etc, to support various classes.

In addition, we also approved 8 student academic club grants total of $7,052.33. The grant will support academic activities, competitions for: Anthro Minds, Science Olympaid Club, The Protagonist, Robotics Club, AeroAstro Club, STEMpower, History Club and Mock Trial. 

Parents, Thank you for your generosity and support! We couldn't do this without your generous donation and support!


Academic Boosters Volunteers Lunch

Our Standard Testing Chair Ni Zhou organized this lovely volunteer lunch event for a great social gathering, thanking all for our volunteers' hard working and dedication helping with the Academic Boosters. Thank you volunteers for putting your previous time to support Cal High, the PTSA Testing, the College Fair, and the Academic Award.

Instrumental Music Boosters

CHS Instrumental Music Boosters is a non-profit organization that fundraises to support the Instrumental Music Program at Cal High.

 

Booster/Parent Meetings:

Booster Meetings are open to anyone interested in learning about the details of the Boosters' activities or about the wide array of opportunities to help the Instrumental Music Program. Please join our efforts to keep our program running.

Drama Boosters


Cal High Drama presents “Remedies for a Broken Heart: A Tale of Broken Love Stories,” on February 8th and 9th at 7pm in the theater.


Auditions for “The Play That Goes Wrong” are on Feb. 14th in FA 106 at 2:15. 

***Auditions for the play are open to all Cal High students.


For current drama students, auditions for Fall enrollment in Theatre 3, Theatre 4 and Play Pro will be on March 13th. 


“The Play That Goes Wrong,” is on April 24th, 25th, and 26th at 7pm.
