Welcome to Quilting News
July 2022
Message from Lisa
Well I just love the month of June for many reasons,. The best one is it was my birthday. I can't believe that I turned 57 this year. I have so many things I want to do when I retire but for now I guess I will just relax at the beach collecting shells. I just love doing absolutely nothing for a few days and not having to cook or take care of anyone for a few days. It gives your soul time to reload and restore.

I did take a group of ladies to West Virginia for a few days and yes we tried to rest and relax a little. I had a stubborn head cold the whole time, but I tried to have a good time. I really needed to relax and rest the most. But I managed to buy a little fabric while there. I also bought this quilt from the show and found out it was made by Cathy from The Quilt Shoppe. We love the same kinds of materials. We had the most interesting time and made memories for a lifetime. Thanks to the ladies who made the adventure more fun and exciting for a few days.

Now for what we have panned for JULY. First we will have our 4th of July COOKOUT this Thursday, July 7th! This Thursday. See details below. Then our Wool Group day meeting on the 12th of July. If you are interested in being a part of this group please come to the first meeting where we will discuss what this group is going to be like. Details below. Then you will want to be a part of our second Sip & Sew day on Saturday, July 23rd. Bring a dish to share and details are below for that event also.

Have you ever wanted to paint a Barn Quilt Sign? Well I have a lady named Wendy Hughes that will be holding a class here on the 27th of August. Details are below and space is limited. So check your calendar and send in your money to hold your spot. I'm sure we will have a second class later on if this date doesn't work for you.

And I have started a new adventure in Painting Sewing machines. My first one was fun and I'm still learning the little things about the 301 machines. If you have one you want to sell or get painted, just talk with me about the details. My first machine has already sold and I'm excited as I have my second one in the Que.

Well, I hope you have a great rest of the summer. I know my fall will be packed with more things for you to participate with. Thanks to the group of ladies who are doing the Harriet's Journey. I look forward to seeing all those amazing quilts.

Well for now, rest and keep on sewing.

"4th of July" Cookout
We will be having our Cookout on Thursday, July 7th this year. I will cook the hotdogs on the grill and you bring a SMALL dish to share with the ladies! Desserts are great items to bring also. I expect a full house so you may want to just bring hand work or a small machine. We will have plenty of room for everyone and I'm sure we will use the overflow room in the back for more guest. Wear your Red, White and Blue!
Wool Group Gathering
WOW what a great response to the Wool Group. Please mark your calendar for Tuesday, July 12th at 10 AM for our first meeting. At this meeting we will discuss what the group would like to do at our meetings. So please come with an open heart and mind. I just want to have a simple gathering place for Wool friends to come together and work on projects. But we can alter that in small ways. I will let the group decide what they want to do. So bring a small project if you can talk and work at the same time. I do see a Show and Tell at each meeting happening so bring something you might have finished to share! See you soon and it is NOT too late to join us! You may want to ride together if you are coming from a little distance. If you need a lunch that day, we can order from the Mennonite store. So bring some cash or pack a lunch.
"Sip and Sew"
On Saturday, July 23rd we will be having our second Sip and Sew day. This is a fund day of working on projects and eating food. (NO ONE WAS DRUNK FROM DRINKING) It is just a refreshing time of cool drinks and eating while working. I will provide the Strawberry drinks and everyone else just bring a snack food for the table. You and bring a hand project or a machine to sew with, Heck you can just bring food and eat all day! So Mark your calendar and Join US!
Harriet's Journey
The group has been completed and the directions for your cutting numbers have been handed out and emailed out.

You will need to have all your blocks cut and in baggies with the number of your blocks on the bag or on a tag inside the baggie. Please have all your blocks delivered to Lisa's studio before the 1st of August. They will be divided up and you will get a bag at the Thursday, August 4th Daycare with your entire set from everyone who participated.

Thanks to everyone who participated and I look forward to seeing these quilts when done.

BARN QUILT BLOCK PAINTING DAY
On Saturday, August 27th at 9 AM I will be hosting a painting day with Wendy Hughson. She is a local artist who is providing all the materials for this event. The cost will be $65.00 per person and your payment will hold your spot. ONLY 15 people can participate on this date. If we have more interest we will schedule another date. I will take a few wait list names just in case someone can't make it at the last minute. Wendy is using a newer product other than wood for this class. She will have patterns you can choose from but if you have a block in mind, just bring a copy of the picture and we will do our best to make it happen. A light lunch will be provided that day or you can bring your own.
Something New
I have started a new adventure of Painting the 301 machines. This one has already been SOLD. But if you have any of these machines, I'm looking to buy at a good price. Just contact me or let me know. My second one is already to be sent to the painter.
Quilters Daycare Group
Quilter's Daycare is a Thursday sew group. Please make sure that you slide over and make room for everyone that wants to sew. We have another room now to expand if we need too. We want everyone to feel welcome. We have missed many of you. Your $5 covers your seat charge each Thursday.
See you soon! Reminder the door opens at 9 am not earlier. (I'm with mom getting her up and ready for her day)
Prayer Box for my customers
I have many of my customers who have recently had medical or family health issues arise or just traveling mercies. Many of my friends are prayer worriers and I think we could all use a little extra help about now. So I'm sorry in advance if I leave anyone out, but I try to keep up with everyone of you.

Delma Kemmet, Cathy Wells and husband, Lynah Guild, and Merci Kessler. Please also keep Sister Angelia in your prayers. She prays for our group all the time. Please pray for our country.

Praying for each of these listed for God to touch and heal their needs in specials ways. AMEN.
Thank You!
I now offer payment through Zelle (which is from your bank to mine) or VENMO. If you use one of these payments types, you can now pay me directly. Just inquire and I can give you my account info.

Please continue to bring a bag with your project when leaving it for quilting services!

See you soon! Trixie and Lisa
