When is paint and carpet just paint and carpet and when is it more than paint and carpet?
In 1872, when the ground was broken and foundations were laid for the United Methodist Church that sits at the corner of Second and Hamilton, Methodists had slowly been growing for thirty years in Geneva. Previously occupying a 30’x40’ building on First & James Street, when a revival took hold pressed the membership toward 90 persons, the need for a new building was required. It took over two years to complete the building project and the new building was dedicated on... Read the rest of Rob's Message.

Sunday Worship Service - February 6, 2022
Pastor Lisa Telomen preaches Channeling God's Vision for Peace & Mercy
Abigail negotiates peace between David and her husband, defusing David's anger and advancing God's goals for the kingdom. How might we watch for God's messengers, or even be God's messenger for peace & mercy?

REDEDICATION ON FEBRUARY 6
We will open worship at 9 am on the 6th with a rededication of our building for ministry, the celebration of communion and Pastor Lisa continuing the Perfectly Imperfect Series. Regular office hours and building use will resume, February 7. Because COVID numbers remain high, we will delay resuming coffee hour fellowship until March.
BLESSING TABLES STARTING FEBRUARY 6
Beginning February 6 and for the foreseeable future during coffee hospitality time, we are setting up Blessing Tables. Even though we won't be serving refreshments until March, this is a way to enjoy each other's company, to get to know each other better--your hobbies and interests, and to learn what is going on in the church. It is a blessing time!
On February 6 from 10am we will have a table for Children/Youth games, a starting point table for tours of the refurbished church building by trustee members, a table for anyone who enjoys the hobby of golf, and a table for general conversation.
If anyone has a hobby or if anyone wants to highlight a church activity or committee just email Keith Bowgren at kbowgren@gmail.com and we will get you plugged in. New and different tables every Sunday with Children & Youth games each week.

PRAYING FOR HAITI
The Committee on Missions/Church in Society has recently learned that conditions in Haiti are worsening. Although Grace Children's Hospital is much in need of monetary assistance, they have advised us not to send money or material goods at this time. This request is due to the prevalence of wide-spread gangs that seem able to intercept and steal any goods/mail arriving at ports or even being transported on the highways. So what can we do? We can all PRAY! We can pray for compassion on the part of the gangs that are wreaking havoc on their own country. Or we can pray for strong national leaders who can begin a legitimate, moral government. Or we can pray for continued resilience on the part of the Haitian people. But pray we must, both individually or within the groups already operating within our church family. ~Nancie Lillie, Missions in Society

2022 Church Council Book Study
The congregation is invited to join the Church Council in a monthly book study as we learn a new leadership posture for ministry and life by reading How to Lead When You Don't Know Where You're Going: Leading in a Liminal Season, by Susan Beaumont. The sessions will begin on February 22 at 7pm and continue for the first 30 minutes or so every regular Church Council meeting of 2022. You can request a copy of the book by clicking here.

The Creation Care Team has been busy in 2022 designing our new bulletin board that is located in Fellowship Hall. Come meet the team and see what we are all about (we are more than styrofoam collectors!) on February 27th, when we host a table in Fellowship Hall after the service.
The new 2022 Kane County Recycling guide is now available. It has been reduced from 16 pages to 8 pages to help minimize costs. An online copy is available here and printed copies will be available on the Creation Care board.
Lastly, the church renovation project has brought some changes and the styrofoam collection box has been relocated. You can now find it in a classroom in the hallway that is located under Fellowship Hall. The room will also be a collection place for other committees at church and will be assigned a new name in the near future. Still can’t find it? Stop a Creation Care Team member and we will show you.
