Happy New Year to all our Chinookers!!
It’s been a different climate here in Mission Viejo, CA since early December! We were blessed with many rainstorms and windy days that month. It’s been a number of years since we’ve had that much rain, and it was sorely needed. Usually, December’s a moderate one, but we sure got a lot of rain! I had turned off our sprinkler system until just a couple of weeks ago, since our plants were getting drenched!
For Christmas last year, our oldest son Rob and his wife Jenny, and our youngest son Aaron and his wife Jennifer offered to host dinner at Aaron’s house, and it was a lot of fun! Debbie and I hope you had a nice Christmas as well.
At present, it looks like a sparse rally schedule for 2022. So far, we have one rally set, and a second possible rally. The first one will be at Hoodsport, Washington in August hosted by Dale and Mary Frank. This will be a Mini Rally, so that means it’s only 3 days long. Details below. The possible rally is an Annual Rally in Arizona in October.
For 2023 we have just one rally scheduled in Branson, MO. Our East Meets West Joint Rally #3 in May hosted by Jim and Marnie Weidmaier. The last time we had a joint rally was 2017 here, and Jim and Marnie made it a terrific one. The Branson Lakeside RV Park and the surrounding area is loaded with incredible tours and places to see. Debbie and I had a wonderful time! Details below.
Rallies Request
For this year, we really need some help getting one or two more Mini (3 day) Rallies and an Annual one (4 days) confirmed and on the schedule. PLEASE think about hosting a rally close to where you live or anywhere you have traveled and really liked that RV park. Also think about helping a rally host with a fun activity.

It’s my privilege to welcome the following new members. Thank you so very much for joining our club, and we hope to see you at future rallies!

The old membership year is now history, and the new membership directory has been published in pdf format at the Chinook RV Club Google Drive. The link to the drive is: https://bit.ly/2Yf5mzw. Please check your information and let me know if anything needs changing or updating. We plan to publish a new paper directory next month, so it would be nice to get everything correct! While you are browsing the club Google Drive, check out the club photo directory. If you find yourself listed without any photos, send me some! We would love to have photos of all members and their rigs! Please excuse the pagination of the photo directory as it keeps changing with the addition of photos as they are received.
Membership remains about the same level each year, with folks joining at about the same rate as those leaving. In several cases, new members join the club with the old member’s Chinooks! Our current membership is at 81, actually 78 active with two members selling their Chinooks since paying their 2022 dues.

Hello Chinook Club members:
Mary and I are inviting you to the Rally August 18-21, 2022 in beautiful Washington State at the Glen Ayr Hood Canal Waterfront Resort in Hoodsport, WA.
August is a great time to go camping in Western Washington, as we have less rain and more sunshine with moderate temperatures. The Resort is right across the road from beautiful Puget Sound waterway.
|
|
We are planning a Hog and Turkey BBQ for the rally Potluck meal.
There are several Winerie in Hoodsport that we’re talking to about a wine tasting party at the Rally site!
As of right now there are nine Chinook Club RVs with reservations for the rally. So don’t push, don’t shove, there’s still room for six more Chinooks at the rally. Be sure and get your reservations at least thirty days before the rally. To make your reservations, phone 360-877-9522 and Lynette or Stephanie will help you.
Looking forward to seeing everyone and having a great rally!
Hopefully, there are several of you out there that are going to do a Rally this year! Just check with Debbie & Bob Shetland and they will help you.
Thanks,
Dale & Mary Frank

A Little Humor to Brighten Your Day
|
|
|
Last night, my wife asked me if I'd seen the dog bowl. I said, "I didn't know he could."
If you boil a funny bone it becomes a laughing stock. That's humerus.
My boss said I intimidate my co-workers. I stared at him until he apologized.
I wish I could lose weight as easily as I lose my keys, pen, cellphone, temper, and even my mind.

Great Forum for Technical Questions
|
|
A valuable resource that is not a part of the club is the free group site ChinookRVOwners, which I run and moderate. Most all members of the club are members of the site as well but there are many that are not part of the club. This forum is mostly technical – troubleshooting, problem solving, references and questions. Link is https://groups.io/g/Chinookrvowners. This site was at Yahoo Groups for nearly 15 years and is now moved to groups.io.

To Join the Chinook RV Club Facebook Page
|
|
Our Facebook Page is private and hidden, so if you haven't already joined, there's a little process you need to follow:
- If a club member wants to join our club's FB page they must first be signed up with Facebook.
- I can only send invitations to FB Friends, so send me a friend request.
- I will then issue an invitation to the club's FB page, which the member must accept to complete the process.
- Then, I will “unfriend” the member in my personal FB account. Please do not take this as a slight! Our friendship will still exist at the Chinook RV Club page, but there is no telling if our social media preferences align, and I do not want to take a chance that our individual preferences would in any way endanger our Chinook related relationship!

THE CHINOOK SONG (OPUS THREE) by Al Enriquez 9/17/2003
(Sung to the tune of On Top of Old Smokey)
|
|
WE ARE HAPPY RV'ERS
WE SELDOM GET SHOOK
AND OF ALL OUR POSSESSIONS
WE LOVE OUR CHINOOK
WE TRAVEL THE HIGHWAYS
WITH NO CARES TO BEAR
WHEN WE STOP AND HOOK-UP
MOST PEOPLE STARE
THEY GATHER AROUND
TO ADMIRE OUR RIG
WE ASK THEM INSIDE
IF THEY'RE NOT TOO BIG
REFRAIN
WE'VE TRAVELED THE COUNTRY
AND WHEREVER WE ROAM
IN OUR TWENTY-ONE FOOTER
WE NEVER MISS HOME
|
|
WE GO EAST AND WEST
NORTH AND SOUTH TOO
WE FACE HILLS AND MOUNTAINS
THEY'RE EASY TO DO
WITH ONLY TWO SEATS
IT IS QUITE A THRILL
TO NOT HAVE TO WORRY
IF GRANDKIDS ARE STILL
TRAILWAGONS GO FORWARD
KEEP CHINOOKS WITH ZEST
FOR AS LONG AS WE'RE ABLE
WE'LL BE DRIVING THE BEST!
WE ARE HAPPY RV'ERS
WE SELDOM GET SHOOK
AND OF ALL OUR POSSESSIONS
WE LOVE OUR CHINOOK
