IPC Grand Rounds Focus on Effects of COVID-19

A panel of community members on March 30 discussed the impact the pandemic has had on their physical and mental health, as well as access to services and care, despite not having contracted COVID-19. Some of the participants discussed the care they received at the Impact Practice Center.

“Even though I know you have other students, when I’m in the exam room with you, I felt like it was just me and you,” said client Lisa Sims. “Don’t ever lose that. When you graduate, and the appointments that used to be an hour are down to 40 minutes, don’t just hear, listen. Listen and keep doing the same thing out there when you’re in the real world as you’re doing here because it really means a lot. I thank you all and I thank this program.”

“We trust the work that you do and that your colleague do and the colleagues that came before you do,” said Bob Fagan, whose son was treated at IPC. “You’re going to get thrown into stuff in your career – I don’t know what it will be – and when you get into it, you’ll find your training actually prepared you for it.”

Two Hockey Championships in a Row for Davis

Sammy Davis, OTD ’23, a forward on the Boston Pride, has won back-to-back championships of the Premier Hockey Federation, North America’s only women’s professional hockey league. “What an amazing feeling to win back-to-back championships and bring the Isobel Cup back to Boston,” she said. Davis, who was the first pick in the 2020 draft, has continued to successfully juggle her classes and hockey responsibilities this year. “This semester has been very demanding," she said, "but being a part of a great program with professors that understand the importance of life outside of school has been so helpful in my path to success – as well as my amazing classmates who continue to support me in school and on the ice."
