AUGUST 2023

VOLUME 10

Hi FAWCO friends,

I hope everyone is enjoying a lovely summer (or winter in the southern hemisphere). I have been happily ensconced on the shores of Lake Michigan during the month of July, enjoying family time and the beach.

The summer is generally pretty quiet for The Foundation but we do have some exciting news to share. Shirley Kearney (a longtime member of AWC Basel and former Foundation Secretary) has been a faithful supporter of The FAWCO Foundation, sponsoring the Shirley Kearney AWC Basel University Study Degree Award since 2008. Shortly after the conference in Bratislava, The Foundation received a very sizeable donation from the Kearney family to the sum of $200,000! This amazing, incredibly generous donation will allow the Shirley Kearney Award to live on in perpetuity. The Foundation expresses its deepest gratitude to the Kearney family.

We are also pleased to announce that the de Groot Foundation $10,000 Matching Grant for Target has now been fully depleted. It has been wonderful to see how many clubs have continued their Target fundraising into the summer months and been able to take advantage of the grant. Many thanks to all the clubs who donated to Target, bringing our goal that much closer. And again, our deep gratitude to Clydette de Groot for her support of the Target program.

We at The Foundation are looking forward to the fall as we begin to gather at regionals and once again coordinate our efforts to continue the great work we do together.

Enjoy the rest of your summer!

Best regards,

Janet
