Sunday Mass schedule in English is at 9 AM, 11 AM, and 5 PM. Mass in Spanish is at 12:30 PM.

The Archdiocese of Chicago has issued a statement that, in accordance with the city, masks will now be required at all liturgies, including Masses. You can read the statement here.

Oktoberfest Is Happening Now!

St. Alphonsus’ Oktoberfest is legendary throughout Chicago and the Midwest, especially because of our German heritage. We hope everyone is having an AMAZING time at the Fest'!! Be sure to tag St. Alphonsus on your social media pictures!

Oktoberfest is St. Al’s biggest fundraiser, and it takes many volunteers to make it a success. Volunteering is a great way to help the parish community, make new friends, and have a barrel of fun!
There are a few spots available to welcome festgoers at the admissions gate, help in the food tent and serve as grill masters.
All volunteers get an amazing t-shirt, free beer or brat, and a special invite to a Volunteer Thank You Party on 10/1 for helping out! If you have any questions, reach out to stalsofestvolunteers@gmail.com

Young Adult Ministry

St. Alphonsus has a vibrant young adult community! Be sure to check out our Facebook page for service opportunities and other future events!

YAM is in the planning stages for a bunch of fun activities in Oct/Nov, such as Apple Picking, Community Dinner, Trivia Night and a Corn Maze! Be sure to check for an upcoming newsletter in October for more details.

On Tuesday, October 5, all young adults in their 20s and 30s are invited to register for Young Catholic Professionals' next monthly executive panel discussion, which will take place at St. John Cantius. The theme is "Cultivating Courage in the Workplace".
Faith Formation

Registration for our parish Religious Education program for children grades 1-8 for the 2021-2022 year is now open. Religious Education will be Tuesday nights at 6:15 PM. Classes begin this Tuesday September 28. We are planning to return to in-person this fall. We will be following Archdiocesan guidelines, asking all unvaccinated individuals to wear masks whenever indoors. Of course, these guidelines may adjust based on local state & diocesan guidance. Catechists needed! If you would like to spend more time with children, strengthen the faith bonds of our families or enjoy serving in our parish - please consider volunteering as a catechist for our religious education program! We'd love to talk to you and no experience is necessary :) There are training opportunities and support as you get started and throughout your time of service. Walking With Purpose- A Modern Woman's Guide to the Bible
Join us at St. Alphonsus this Fall on Tuesdays as we help you enjoy a deeper personal relationship with Jesus Christ, nurtured through personal Bible study and small group discussions created just for women! Pumpkin Painting & Carving, THURS, OCT 14, in the St. Alphonsus parking lot; if you know a youngster who is planning on coming, please ask the parent to RSVP at knightsofcolumbus.15158@gmail.com to confirm; it will help with the count of pumpkins. This year's pumpkins are being harvested from Michigan. Open to All!

Tootsie Roll / ID Drive for benefit of Special Needs programming at AACA and Misericordia, OCT 16 & 17, late morning/early afternoon at Jewel on Ashland (1' shift), and after each of the SUN masses (just for 15-minutes); can you take a 15-minute shift after one of the SUN masses that weekend? Can you (and perhaps a younger helper) take a 1-hour shift at Jewel on SAT, OCT 16?

St. Alphonsus Scouts

Have your kids join Scouts! Registration for the Pack 3889 scout year is open to all 1st - 5th grade boys.1st Grade Tigers, 2nd Grade Wolves, 3rd Grade Bears, and 4th/5th Grade Webelos each have a den in the pack. Dens meet 1-2 times/month. Pack activities like hikes, camping, and Pinewood Derby are scheduled through the year.

The Scouts of BSA Troop 889 at St. Alphonsus welcome 6th - 10th grade boys to join us on October 12th from 7 - 8 PM to learn more about Scouting and meet the Troop. We have several outdoor Scouting events planned for this year like hiking along Lake Michigan, camping at the Indiana Dunes and various BSA campgrounds. No prior Scouting experience is necessary, and all skill levels are welcome, whether you are just learning how to pitch a tent, cook on a camp stove, make a campfire or are an experienced camper. St. Mary of the Woods, 7033 N. Moselle, will be having their annual "Blue Mass" on Wednesday Sept 29 at 8:30 AM. All are welcome to join for this time-honored tradition of praying for the protection of our public servants in law enforcement, fire department and emergency medical services.
