Heritage Festival of Saskatoon

HERITAGE FESTIVAL

Welcome to the 2024 Heritage Festival of Saskatoon! Join us in celebrating the rich tapestry of Saskatoon and its surrounding areas by exploring the diverse threads of civic, natural, cultural, and artistic heritage. Held at the WDM Saskatoon, this year's festival promises a captivating experience with live entertainment, cultural dancers, over 30 exhibits, engaging kids' activities, and much more. Embracing the theme 'On Common Ground,' the festival aims to highlight the shared connections that unite us. Be sure to visit our stand at the Western Development Museum on Sunday, February 4th, from 12:00 to 5:00 pm, where admission is free. Come together with friends, family, and fellow community members to revel in the beauty of our collective heritage.

Gerhard Herzberg - A Life in Science

Dr. Gerhard Herzberg was an eminent German-Canadian physicist who found refuge at the University of Saskatchewan when the Nazis forced him to leave his position at the Technical University of Darmstadt, Germany. He performed trailblazing research during his time in Saskatoon that laid the groundwork for his award of the Nobel Prize in Chemistry in 1971. His scientific accomplishments informed applications of his work in every field of modern science and technology, from astronomy to medical diagnostics. Learn about his scientific and his personal journeys that took him from Germany to Canada and the United States, and finally back to Canada.

Dr. Rainer Dick will present "Gerhard Herzberg - A Life in Science" on Sunday, February 4th, at the WDM in Saskatoon during the Heritage Festival.
