BEYOND GRADUATION PROJECT -

BUDGET LISTENING SESSION TESTIMONY

My name is Jennifer Boyle, and I live in North Caldwell, New Jersey with my family. I am also a Transition Coordinator consultant to the CTC Academy in Oakland, New Jersey - a private, not-for-profit school for individuals with complex disabilities. Thank you for the opportunity to share my thoughts and concerns with you today.

I am the proud mom of two young men, Sean, who is 20 years old, and Sam, who is 17 years old.  Today, I will be focusing on my older son Sean:

Sean loves music and spending time with his family more than anything. He loves Disney Pixar movies, being in nature, hiking, and riding his adapted bike. He is a Boy Scout in our local troop, and he enjoys camping and contributing to his community. Sean has learned to read and can use a communication device that he controls with his eyes.

DR. D’ALESSANDRO PHYSIATRY OVERVIEW 

Dr. D'Alessandro, pictured here presenting at the Fair Lawn and Oakland campuses recently, is a board certified pediatric physiatrist and the Clinical Director at Valley Hospital's Kireker Center For Child Development.

In December, Dr. D’Alessandro presented to our staff at both campuses focusing on what physiatry is and how she works with our students and their families to promote functional independence. The CTC Academy hosts monthly physiatry clinics with Dr. D'Alessandro which allows our multidisciplinary teams to consult with her and the students’ families regarding equipment, orthotics and treatment methods. 

D'Alessandro’s lecture was the first in a series of educational programs offered to staff members to enhance clinical knowledge and gain resources. Both sessions were well attended and the feedback was great!
