Dear Ballona Wetlands Advocates,
We hope that 2022 is off to a great start for you! This month's newsletter is packed with information about new access to the ecological reserve, a "Bird Brother" whose conservation work is being featured by Cornell University's Lab of Ornithology, a front-page article on the Ballona Wetlands, and a proposed strategy for keeping trash from flowing out to the ocean from Ballona Creek. We hope this information helps you stay connected to the Ballona Wetlands and nature in general.
Project Updates:
- After working years to facilitate access to areas in the northern Ballona Reserve, wildlife-sensitive access to area A has been secured, read more below.
-
We've booked transportation for our first sponsored in-person field trip of the year for Title 1 students to the Ballona reserve, which will occur in late March! We are hopeful that the current surge of the Omicron will subside so that this field trip can safely proceed.
-
We are continuing our virtual nature classes for elementary students as well. If you know of a class or group that would be interested in any of our educational opportunities, please feel free to contact sofia@ballona.org or fill out this form.
Thank you for your ongoing support.
Sincerely,
The Ballona Wetlands Team
