Join Us As We Celebrate Our Local Students And Educational Institutions
The annual State of Education breakfast serves as a public forum for business and industry leaders to hear about the educational opportunities in Coppell and meet the students. Our headline sponsors are Coppell ISD and Linebarger Goggan Blair & Sampson, LLP with presenting sponsorships by Dallas College North Lake and Legacy ER & Urgent Care.

Dr. Brad Hunt, Superintendent CISD, and Dr. Christa Slejko, President of Dallas College North Lake, will provide the business community a better understanding of the local growth and opportunities of our schools and college from the perspective of our own leaders in education.

The floor will be open to questions from the audience following their remarks. This will be an in-person event with Zoom attendance available upon request.

Show your support for our local educational institutions and students with a sponsorship of this annual event! Contact the Chamber for more information.

Help Us Fight Proposed Sales Tax Change
There's a tremendous amount of opposition to HB 4072, but the bill isn't dead yet. Please help us educate our legislators about the burden this sales tax change would place on our state's businesses and ask them to vote NO to HB 4072. You can call or email them directly from this notice:

Sen. Nathan Johnson, 512 463-0116, nathan.johnson@senate.texas.gov
Sen. Jane Nelson, 512-463-0112, jane.nelson@senate.texas.gov
Rep. Julie Johnson, 512-463-0468, julie.johnson@house.texas.gov
Rep. Michelle Beckley, 972-395-3519, michelle.beckley@house.texas.gov

HB 4072 will require local sales taxes to be collected/reported based on where an item is "shipped to" rather than from where the order is produced/sold. This means businesses – including vital small businesses – would need to have the ability to calculate taxes of more than 1,650 sales tax jurisdictions (Texas has the most of any other state). More than 93% of all businesses (614,000+) currently report state/local sales taxes to their single place of business at a single rate.

If you have friends and colleagues in other communities who own and/or run businesses as well, please forward this message on to them asking them to contact their respective representatives too. Our voices WILL make a difference!

High-Energy Membership Extravaganza Coming Up Next Week
While most Chambers of Commerce struggle through their annual membership drive, the Coppell Chamber of Commerce will host a “Membership Extravaganza” that is like no other. For two and a half days, volunteers will work against the clock, and against each other, to sign up new Chamber members and create a greater community awareness of the important role of the Chamber of Commerce.

“The Chamber of Commerce is the business community,” said Chamber President Ellie Braxton-Leveen. “This brings everyone together to build their Chamber. It’s a membership-based organization but most people don’t like membership drives. With our membership events, they come together in a competitive fun setting and tell the Chamber story. When others hear about everything the Chamber does, all of a sudden you have a great deal of enthusiasm for the Chamber, and a great deal of support.”

The Coppell Chamber of Commerce Membership Extravaganza will run from Tuesday, May 11 - Thursday, May 13.

We have more than 100 volunteers signed up to help make this event a success - but more are still needed, especially for the week of May 17th when we will be following up with and welcoming our new members! Contact the Chamber at 972-393-2829 for more information.
