The Ally: Join Us to Share and Learn Together
 

It's been a great week, especially attending the Mississippi disAbilty Megaconference in person. It was wonderful to see so many of you there and to get to visit with quite a few of you.  For those of you who couldn't attend, some session information will be posted on the conference website and one of this week's blogs is about the mental health update and panel that I participated in. 

Please also plan to attend the Eighth Annual Special Education Law Conference & CLEon July 27 from 9:00 a.m. - 4:45 p.m. CDT and 2022 Virtual Mississippi Trauma Informed Care Conference from September 22 at 8:00 a.m. to September 24 at 12:30 p.m. CDT. Registration for the Trauma Conference will open soon. 

We are looking forward to our Parent Peer Support Conversation for Anyone working with Parent Peer Supporters on June 23 from 1:30 p.m. - 2:30 p.m. CDT. Please join us if you supervise or work with parents supporting other parents (or would like to). We want to work together to make sure parent-to-parent support is set up in ways that it can succeed and that you have what you need to support parents who support other parents. 

Our fifth Wednesday Families as Allies Live! is June 29 at noon CDT. Please join us for this quarterly update about our recent events and future plans. Families as Allies is about ALL of us and we want to hear your ideas and feedback on how we can all move forward together on behalf of our children.

It's wonderful to be able to share lots of opportunities to learn and grow together. Please check out our events section to find out even more and keep us posted on how we can be the most responsive and helpful to you and your family.

It was a pleasure to be back in person at the tenth annual Mississippi disAbility Megaconference on June 16 and 17.

The Coalition for Citizens with Disabilities is hosting its 8th Annual Special Education Law CLE with great presentations from faculty.

EVENTS
 
This conversation is for anyone working with parents providing peer support to other parents in any system.
 
This training is for anyone who is interested in learning to serve on decision-making groups and committees.
 
Families as Allies is about ALL of us and we want to hear your ideas and feedback on how we can move forward together.
 
NAMI Basics is a 6-session course for adult parents and caregivers of children formally or not yet diagnosed with a mental health condition.
 
Family members may drop in to share any concerns or get feedback from others about handling different situations.
 
The MSICC advises and assists the MSDH First Steps Early Intervention Program. Families and professionals are encouraged to attend.
 
Join other parents for a monthly meeting and online gathering to coach and support other parents in any system.
 
Mississippi’s State Agencies are required to post notices of regular meetings on the Mississippi Public Meeting Notices Website.
 
The Peer Support Specialist Professional Supervisor Training is designed for agency administration/management and CPSSP Supervisors.
 
The Mississippi Developmental Disabilities Network is hosting community forums in the Jackson, Gulf Coast, and Southaven areas in August.
