While it is still a dark and cold winter, there so many bright lights on the horizon – especially here at the law school.
We opened our campus in January with few hiccups. Law students, faculty and staff were tested before in-person classes began-- with zeropositive COVID results. We are extremely proud of our community as we continue to practice safe protocols.
We are now able to offer slightly larger in-person classes under our state health guidelines with masks and social distancing still required. If enough vaccines are made available, we plan to return to our normal schedule in the fall. That is good news for faculty and students who have been doing a mighty job of managing law school in hybrid (both Zoom and in-person) class settings.
Career Fairs and law school applications are additional bright spots this year. A record number of employers are interviewing students remotely and more students are participating as well. My thanks to employers who are getting to know and employ our outstanding students. At the other end of the spectrum, we have a very strong application pool of prospective students who wish to come to Lewis & Clark Law School. We are looking forward to welcoming many of them in August.
Saving the best news for last: the PILP Auction (Public Interest Law Project) is virtual this year. Tickets are free, dressing up is optional, and you do not have to travel any further than your laptop. It’s one of the easiest –and most entertaining – ways to support law students and the community nonprofits they will serve this summer. Thank you for joining us and making the 30th Annual PILP Auction a success!
Stay safe!
My very best,
Dean Jennifer Johnson
