MAYOR'S UPDATE
From the desk of Mayor Rika Levin
On Wednesday – the Village will be hosting our first Project Mover Public meeting at the Ossining Public Library in the Budarz Theater at 7:00PM. This is an opportunity for the public to discuss the project and how our community partners have played and will play a major role in ensuring it is tailored to the needs of those that live in the Village of Ossining. Please join us to learn about what you can anticipate from the program.
I am excited to share that on the heels of the Village of Ossining’s recent NYSERDA Clean Transportation Prize award for a three-year grant of $7 million for Project MOVER, we have also won an additional $1 million from the New York State Regional Economic Development Council to put towards the construction of a Multi-Modal Transportation Hub in Ossining. This Hub will consolidate valuable downtown surface parking in the Village of Ossining by increasing capacity for automobile spaces, investing in EV and e-bike infrastructure, and a solar canopy over the top floor parking deck.
What became clear to me as your Mayor during Covid is that we live in a community filled with caring and giving people. We are much more attuned to giving to others this time of the year. Giving comes in many different forms, such as buying a present for someone, donating to charities, or volunteering. It has been suggested that when we give to others, the hormone oxytocin is released, which induces feelings of warmth, euphoria, and connection.

Giving is contagious. Giving to others can create a ripple effect and encourage others to do the same, increasing generosity in our community. Each person in a network can influence dozens or even hundreds of people.

Giving may help you build stronger social connections and even encourage many people to give more throughout the community. And don’t be surprised if you find yourself benefiting from a big dose of happiness.

There are over 200 nonprofits that call Ossining home, providing many paths to helping members of our community live life better. Please support their outreach in whatever way you can.
All is merry and bright so far this season…Did you get a chance to start your holiday shopping? Look no further than the many shops throughout our Village – be sure to #ShopOssining this holiday season.
I look forward to joining our community at the Village's annual tree lighting in Market Square this Friday, beginning at 5:45 PM! Join us for our first of many festive nights!

To provide the community with improved water service and greater reliability, the Village of Ossining is upgrading our meter reading system. Saks Metering will need to replace your water meter as part of this upgrade. The new water meter installation takes about one hour and requires workers to access the meter located on your property. Meter replacements will be performed by a contractor Saks Metering. Authorized installers from Saks Metering with photo identification, car signs, and company uniforms will be working in our community to complete this project.

This replacement will be performed at no cost to you. Please note that the right to gain access to your property in order to replace, repair, install or inspect your water meter is a condition for providing water service to any property.

The Village of Ossining is requesting that an appointment to exchange your current water meter be scheduled within 30 days of receipt of the letter – as failure to schedule an appointment may result in estimated water bills.

Please reach out to Saks via any of the convenient methods below to make your appointment:
  1. You may visit their website at www.SaksMetering.com and click "Schedule Appointment "
  2. You may email them at info@saksmetering.com. You may call their office at 877-583-7257 and schedule your appointment over the phone (Monday - Thursday 8 AM-5 PM, Friday 8 AM-4 PM)

We thank you in advance for your cooperation.
