Nine USU scholars were named 2022 National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellows and seven received honorable mention from the competitive STEM graduate program.

Graduating this Spring? RSVP for Commencement Events

Congratulations on your impressive achievements! We invite you to celebrate your achievements during Commencement Activities Thursday, May 5: Assemble on the Quad at 8 am to process to the Spectrum for USU Commencement Ceremony at 9 am; At 6 pm, assemble in the Waynes Estes Center immediately west of Dee Glen Smith Spectrum to line up for the procession into the Spectrum for the College of Science Convocation at 6:30 pm, ice cream social follows.

Science Unwrapped thanks its featured speakers for the wonderful 2021-22 “Science on the Horizon” series, along with volunteers and participants. The college’s public outreach program returns with a new series for 2022-23 in September, and we’ll be seeking volunteers to provide hands-on learning activities!

Rapid Fire Research Showcases

Student Achievements

Kudos to the grad student and undergrad researchers who participated in Rapid Fire Research 2022. The new presentation format, initiated by Manuel Santana, the college’s 2022 Peak Prize Undergraduate Researcher of the Year, has been a successful showcase of student ingenuity during the 2021-22 academic year.

Student Hardship Fund

The College of Science Hardship Fund provides one-time, emergency financial assistance to students within the college who are experiencing a crisis. This fund is separate from the university’s Student Emergency Fund, from which science majors may also apply for assistance. To access the fund’s website, select “Students” from the main navigation bar on the College of Science home page and select “Student Hardship Fund” from the drop-down menu.

New USUSA Officers Elected for 2022-23

Grad students at USU are represented by their USU Student Association college senator, as well as a university-wide School of Graduate Studies senator. New officers for 2022-23 are Science Senator Gabriella Cale, an undergrad biology major with a chemistry minor; and Graduate Studies Senator Sarah N. Pope, a doctoral student in cognitive psychology.
