Each year, the Chatham Area Chamber of Commerce awards scholarships to three local graduating seniors. The students receive a $1,000 scholarship to be applied to the college or university of their choice.
There have been some updates made to our application this year. For the first time, students will complete and submit the application online. Also, and more significantly, the Chatham Chamber Board of Directors voted to classify our scholarships as a member benefit, thus opening the scholarships to all high school seniors who meet the following qualifications:
- They must reside in Sangamon County; and
- They or their parent/guardian must be employed by a Chatham Area Chamber member
Applications will be blind-reviewed based on a combination of academic achievement, volunteer and/or work experience, and essay/response regarding the Chatham Chamber and its work.
All applications must be submitted online by 5 p.m. Friday, March 29, 2024.

March 2024 Member of the Month ~ Car Wash City | |

Congratulations to Car Wash City for being chosen the Chatham Area Chamber of Commerce's Member of the Month for March!
Car Wash City is a locally-owned, family business. The Goeckner family started the car wash business in 1970. Don and Jeanie already owned and operated a coin laundry and dry cleaning business, so it seemed to them a natural progression to add car washes to their portfolio. The car washes started in Taylorville and then spread to Hillsboro, and Chatham, then to Springfield where their two largest car washes were built: one on South Sixth Street and the other on Robbins Road in Parkway Point.
All of the Goeckner children were very involved in the business even at an early age. Joe, the oldest, was instrumental in the building and the operation of all the first car washes. Daughters, Pam Goeckner Hogan and Jane Goeckner Hay, were weekend warriors - working wherever they were needed. They are still both great supporters of the business.
Bob was involved in the business during his high school days and then went on to join his parents as part owner. When his parents retired, he and his wife, Kathy, became the major owners of the Car Wash City brand.
Below is a list of Car Wash City's amenities:
- Automatic and self-service car washes, 24/7
- Full-service cleaning services at their Parkway Point location
- Car detailing services in which they take care of windows, tires, paint renewal, tar removal, 1-3 year ceramic coating, and shampoo extraction
- Dog wash stations at their locations in Springfield, Taylorville and Chatham
- Many different membership options
- Satisfaction is guaranteed
The Chatham Area Chamber of Commerce is honored to name Car Wash City as its Member of the Month for March!
